I think he was joking about the employee who was fired for showing up drunk to the job but doing decent work while drunk anyway (i.e. a drunk pilot joke). This also explains the "or anything" (i.e. any other kind of job where a customer really, really wouldn't want employees being drunk on the job).

There have been a shitload of layoffs at most of the US airlines over the past few years.

This thread might actually be a record. The CEO's of two MMO companies posting in the same thread. Why do we never see the CEO or even management from Blizzard post in the public?
Blizzard doesn't need any PR to sell their product. I doubt if you saw EQ2/VG pulling in 6 million subscribers you'd see Smed and Brad here as much.

True, but getting people to post here is helpful, the questions that can be answered tend to get relatively spin-free answer.

Of course, the truly interesting questions are those that they cannot realistically answer without compromising themselves too much.

Speaking of which, Smed and Brad, will you stop beating your wives?

difference between a ferrari and a clunker for mmo's is fairly easy to determine in early beta's

I lucked out for world of warcraft, i was one of the first ~500 testers on the project...due to my knowing an employee of blizzard i got in the friends and family Alpha...

within the first hour of my playing the game- which at the time was limited to level 10 and there was only humans available to play- i KNEW the game was going to be a huge Success...and i said that the game- due to how it played and the popularity of blizzard games- was going to be atleast as large as lineage population wise..

within 1 hr of playing shadowbane i knew the game was going to be so-so certain aspects were decent others sucked..

within 1hr of playing horizons i knew the game needed alot of work-potential was there, but didn't pan out

etc etc..

sometimes the games just "click" for gameplay in a way that just makes you go SWEET-and damn i just gotta see what is coming next...

hopefully over the course of beta, vanguard will get to that point (and no i am not in the beta)

Quick Neric, now's your chance.

Ask Smed why his 'lazy developers' left all that 'needed' content you spoke of out of EQ2. We're all dying to know where the Aviak City is. Don't let us down!

Because the WoW.com board users go batshit loco anytime a dev so much as drops a hint of something on these boards, if you were to infer to Blizzard posting here. The effect usually being 10+ page drama threads on FOH favoritism in General and all around douchebaggery, just for our entertainment.

it's not just about losing your beta slot. Some NDA have clauses where they can sue you for damages.

I still think it sucks. If sigil wants to try to sue me because I think Vanguard is the worst game Ive ever played(or beta tested), they can go ahead and try.

It's not about that at all. It would make a company look bad to take a kid to court. It's about manning up to the agreements you sign by playing the game at all. It's about having the maturity to understand that you played a game that wasn't ready, and isnt even nearly ready. Bein a loudmouth about it on someones forums just makes you look like a pituitary retard with no balls.

The inquisition is coming newbs. There will be lots of pain.
