It's been a real long time, but I seem to recall Invis vs Undead making LGuk CR's pretty trivial. I could be wrong here, as it may have been a spell added at a later date.

Luclin endurance matches ftl.
You poor bastard. Im pretty sure those didnt come to her aid. Even if they did who gives a shit about something hitting that lightly.

Tunare stopped being fun after they made it so you couldnt disarm her weapon drops.

I said this a long time ago, but I'll repeat it:

EQ deaths had a factor of uncertainty. The chances of you losing your corpse are slim, but there's always that chance. Moreover, you don't know how long it might take to bail your corpse out. It might take a few minutes (if a group was nearby). It might take hours, or even days. You might get a res. Or you might not.

WoW deaths do not. You know exactly how much you lose, in terms of gold, each time you die.

The unknown is always more terrifying than the known, and therefore EQ deaths > WoW deaths at any level of play until they introduced widely-available corpse summons and grave yards. At this point, EQ deaths lost all senses of uncertainty and became exactly the same as WoW deaths minus the money sink.

Invis vs. undead was a release spell, and if I'm not mistaken, multiple classes had it.

It did make CRs very easy for dead side. By contrast, live side had some shamans who cast see invis.

The good news is that you're still alive. The bad news is that that's the good news. Also, you have no legs.

While the invis bit is true, I also recall it being horrendously unreliable. Although invis versus undead not so much, but there was always a chance you would wind up in a bad spot with no invis and another death under your belt. I also seem to recall mobs being able to see through it like stealth in wow? I'm probably not right, but traveling through lguk on my cleric invised scared the shit out of me so my memory might be addled.

Yep. On multiple occasions I had friends call me in (shadowknight) to ninja their corpses out within minutes of res timers expiring or within days of body poof. these were pretty casual and often poor players who couldn't afford coffins all the time.

As a matter of fact, when I did do corpse retreavals I often had a "let me try once rule". If they lost a body and offered to give me a coffin (or a pile of coin. i usualy carried a coffin), I'd try to physicaly ninja in once to pull it out manualy. they'd usualy let me keep the coffin or the cash for the coffin if i did, so it was pretty rewarding to do it. and it was some of the best fun I ever had in EQ and some of the proudest moments I had pulling casual_jane_05's corpse out from deep somewhere that she couldn't find it.

self only invis, bobbing corpse, 3 fein death spells, tank hitpoints. The ability to FD, hide, stand up, meditate and go deeper. It was good to be a CRing sk.

note that i'm not saying that it was a mechanic that made everyone happy, but I had some damn good times dungion diving for folk's corpses.

Spend enough time on dead side and you would be non-agro to live side

CR was so easy in lguk a monk with SoW could train the whole dungeon and live.

CR in dead side LGUK
Invis vs. undead made it mostly trivial. Live side was a different story if you fought there and couldn't find people non-KOS to frogs. Still, Guk wasn't all that bad.

One of the earliest EQ dungeons, Befallen, had some of the most evil CR schemes due to its use of locked doors and keys that would stay on your corpse.

Sometimes I miss my SK. I was able to go just about anywhere minus keyed area's and explore. I'd usually see 90% of expansions on the first day as long as most of the content wasnt blocked.

Actually, Invis CR was sort of scary for many classes because its duration was kind of random: sometimes it'd last 5 minutes, sometimes it'd poof within 10 seconds. So, see'ing your invis buff begin to blink out while naked-pulling your corpse across a fully-spawned dungeon did indeed deliver its share of shiver down the spine hehehhehe.

Aaahhh, the ole good days...

When Prexus first opened, my lowbie druid fell down that well. Luckily someone a bit higher bailed me out and dragged me to zone in. That well sucked.
