I generally become a bit distressed when a game that's been in production several years is being ripped on for basic things like combat, yes. Especially considering the devs outright say, 'yes we need to work on making this more fun'.

No, the sky isn't falling you cynical faggot, but I'm actually concerned about the game - and when i hear from the devs mouth of the current situation, i do tend to get a bit worried.

You suspect wrong. Do numbers not speak for themselves these days? PEAK NIGHTS have 100 online, let's do some math here big guy. 4k + invited and peak nights remain at 100 online. Obviously the game is just fun and all-around great! Everyone loves it, massive amounts of players play the game and really would like to post in vanguards defense but they just can't!

How does any of that add up? Do numbers not speak for themselves? Am i wrong? Can someone please enlighten me if this is such a great game and the NDA breakers are so wrong why there's only 100 on at peak nights? The proof is in the pudding.

There's a good deal of info that I know that would back my claim up 10x more but it breaks NDA crap and i'd prefer to keep my access to the boards, so i'll not get into that.

I really want Sigil to do well - i'm just frusterated, and really I don't enjoy arguing with any of you. I just see a shit ton of blind faith on these boards with no back up to support it.

Hell, I hope they are completely redesigning things if even 1/10th of the leaks have been true. Hell, even discounting leaks, if the things McQuaid is saying are true. Honestly, I feel better about Vanguard after reading this thread than I've felt about it in months. I was pretty down, it sounded more and more like release-day EQ2 but even worse every day.

Now it seems like they are willing and able to scrap that trash and give it another shot. Sigil shouldn't be hated for that, they should be applauded. We've all seen garbage games in beta not change their shitty fundamentals and get released as ..... garbage games (see: Star Wars Motherfucking Galaxies). I hope MS gives them the ability to hold the game back another year or more if they need to. And I hope they take it.

I was afraid pride would be the vice that destroyed Vanguard. It's hard for a proud person to admit their plans didn't work out, and people shouldn't get in their face when they do and then try and fix it. Of course, if the game is uninspired and unfun, and they decide to slap some polish on it and vomit it out in three months, I'll be screaming for blood with the best of them.

Wrong again. Head on over to the vanguard forums and look up the posts about peak night numbers and watch how the devs not only acknowledge but reciprocate. This was talked about only a few days ago. You really ought to get your facts straightened out.

Yeah, how could anyone take such a tool seriously when we could thoughtfully rally behind Neric and Utanyan?

I think many people give way too much of a fuck one way or another. If I spend 50 bucks trying the game and quit after the free month I will just go on my merry way about things. I might have something to say here and there about why I end up loving or hating the game, but this shit is getting to be as bad as EQ2 versus WoW used to be.

Now now, don't read too much into it. Personally, I probably won't even be playing Vanguard. Both EQ and WoW account for more days wasted in fantasy than I like to think about, and I've gotten pretty burnt out on trolls and dwarves and elves. So there's sycophantic for you, Brad, I will most likely *not* be playing your game when it comes out. Best of luck with it, but after awhile, all the elf manginas all run together.

No, my point was that Ut and Neric are both renowned douchenozzles, and it's far beyond neccesary for Brad to waste his time defending his game against them. It's sorta counter that when people like Smed or Brad come and post here, most of their energy is taking up defending themselves against these fucks.

I'm not rallying behind anyone. I loved EQ (though it had its flaws) and I love WOW (though it has its flaws). I'll check out Vanguard when it comes out.


I just thought this board was supposed to be a little above the fan-boy mentality. Someone who comes in here with a religious attachment to Vanguard (or anything else) can't really be trusted, can they? They're not going to change their minds, and they'll twist every fact they know to make their game of choice look better.
