| a decent sized core of RL(or atleast voice chatting) friends that plays an excessive amount of time, atleast one of whom has decent leadership skills. Besides that, the quality of applicants you keep around. |

| Being the smartest kid on the short bus still doesn't give you the right to have any claim to game domination. Even if you're the toughest bully on your playground, you're still only 10 years old and would have your ass handed to you by any teenager. Anyways, Guild Politics is alot like real politics. Lots of Administration that no one wants to do, but someone has to do it. Greedy assholes just out to make a buck competing for loyalty against "those people with heart." But shit, Having a snazzy website only gets you so far, real in-game "dominance" comes from having a core group of quality players that are above average intelligence, combined with the will and desire to acheive the conquest of high end content. And you need enough people willing to work together for those common goals. The problem is, everyone wants to think of themselves as above average skill and intelligence. But the reality is, most guilds only have a handful of people that are actually good, the rest of the people just take up space and fill up the raid slots. Some guilds are blessed with great players, so they can accomplish alot in a short amount of time, and then log off to do things irl. Other guilds are blessed with members with no RL responsibilities, so while they may not be the greatest players, they can stay up till 4am 7 nights in a row attempting nefarian over and over and over again until they perfect it. If you can't get your guild to do either of those, then you are in just an average guild, and you aren't a unique snowflake. |

| A guild's appearance on a given server is probably up there on the list of importance. Without a stable and successful appearance, the quality of applicants will go straight to shit. After all, without good applicants, a guild is bound to a life full of suckage. |

+4 Internets | First you need a kick ass name like < OMGKITTYMEWMEW > or < black dix in white chix >. Once you have such a powerful moniker in place, success will beat a path to your door. |

| There are 2 types of uber guilds that exist in MMOs today, you need to decide how you want to run your guild and plan accordingly. Both methods are effective, you just need to pick which one suits your style. Type 1 is the guild that has one central person that defines the guild. Everyone knows this person, (s)he is the absolute dictator, what they say goes. These guilds are often the most famous ones as the central person is outspoken and inspires ordinary people to perform extraordinary feats in a short amount of time. As a result a very well run Type 1 guild is unmatched in speed and profeceincy. However often times if this main person leaves/quits the game, that guild suffers a big setback and while will still remain competetive, lose that edge that put them at the top. This in turn also makes them more prone to breakups if such an event happens. Type 2 is the guild where there is no real central leader. The various jobs of running a guild are divided up between various officers and often times these officers have competent members they can pass various tasks off to. In this type of guild structure the guild leader could go on vacation for a month and when (s)he returns, they will find that the guild not only is still going but has advanced farther. Type 2 guilds usually arent as high profile/famous but can still get the job done as quickly as Type 1 guilds. In addition Type 2 guilds are more resistant to breakups when there is a loss of leaders due to the redundancy of job assignments and less emotional attachments to individual leaders.

| imo here are what i think is key. 1. strong leadership- be it like valor said a type one or a type 2, i have been in both and imo the type one is superior in almost every way and when he leaves the hole created is immense and can cause the guild to fold. 1a. a solid tactics crew- a group of persons who are good at devising strategies to test in the field, and modifying said strats on the go to get the key to success. an example of this is dozeker in ToV...my guild was the 2nd ? maybe 3rd on the server to kill dozeker, there was no strat out on the web, so our officers made a strat, it didn't work, we revised it in the field and tried again...and again..and again. 13 HOURS later we won- and after that day we never LOST a fight vs Dozeker. (ok we did lose once but that was cuz we were trained by another guild so i don't count that one) 2. a core of players that play together ALL the time- voice comms not needed. a solid crew of players will really make or break the guild's success. my guild had a min playtime to be considered "full time" and that was showing up -on time- and being at EVERY raid- you could miss one a week. more than one you were considered part time. my guild for it's first ~8 months or so had a solid crew of 32-42 turnover was low and on any raid night there would be the SAME 32-42 players on(depending on the month the MOST members we had at one time was 45 our of the 54 slots we had allocated for being in the guild.(remember this was velious era) it was HARD to get into my guild. you got in, you were a Very good player.. and it showed in our success.-for that time period. my second guild was shock of swords on the nameless- we had a type one leader Seanlan. we had certain rules for the guild. 1. if the guild is raiding, you are : a) at the raid b) dead at the raid waiting on ress c) just logged on and are on the way to the raid2. what the officers say goes. sure there was discussion on the forums about issues and loot and strategies but in raid, if the officers says jump, you don't ask how high...you just Jump. once seanlan retired - at the start of luclin- the guild slowly fell apart and within 8 months was gone. |

+8 Internets | An unborn, negro fetus stirred vigorously at 137 degrees in a mithril cauldron until done. Add a pinch of tabasco and some fairy dust, let cool, and serve. Half a cup to each person you wish to found your uberguild. |
