Minions of Mirth

I've been following the blog about Minions of Mirth on Garagegames.com and noticed they finally went live. Has anyone tried it out?

Minions of Mirth: http://www.prairiegames.com/games.html

According the website: Gameplay Features:
-Auto-patcher that delivers immediate content and feature upgrades
-Full single player support
-Player vs Environment and Player vs Player multiplayer
-No monthly service fees for multiplayer
-Form your own party of up to 6 characters. Join other players in online alliances with up to 36 characters
-16 playable classes, 12 playable races, Multiclass characters in three careers up to level 100
-3 playable realms: Fellowship of Light, Minions of Darkness, and the Monster Realm
-14 huge and diverse zones to explore
-Unlock monster templates to create your own stable of monsters
-Epic Battle System
-A tremendous amount of unique NPC, creatures, items, and quests
-2 hours of original music
-Free dedicated world server with source code is available. Host your own persistent world with your own original content

The dedicated world server was an interesting spin. The whole game was written using the torque engine (i.e. modified Tribes 2 engine).

Aside from the horrific name of the game, the UI alone will ensure i never even consider this game. I mean Jesus, games from 1999 had a better designed interface then this game does.

Furthermore, the graphics look exactly like those stupid ones from EQ2, only done much worse. I much prefer the cartoon-like graphics offered in WoW than to this.

I am the only one who reads these forums who likes the name, seeing how my WoW hunter in both beta and release was named Mirth.

Downloaded the demo

Some class information would be nice though--we'll see what in game has.

It says I can be a werewolf, but how about a Dragon?!11!!!!

So, like, was this game really made in a garage or..? And yes, the title of the game blows.

I dunno..But its fun and reminescent of EQ1.

I've been messing around between playing a single character, and running my group of 6 around (you can single player a group of 6, atleast, haven't touched multiplayer yet.

Its fun, and worth the trial if nothing else.

Yes, it basically was.

It's made using an gdk that you can get for 100-400 dollars, and as far as i can tell there is really only one guy making it, and a friend helping him market it.

They seem to be 'publishing' it themselves (basically just digital downloads).

I think it's cool that he managed to pull it off *shrug*
