| Wow server transfers coming Blizzard apparently sent out surveys asking if people would be willing to pay 20 or 40 dollars to move a character to a different server. If they allow this I think itll probably make their current population nightmares even worse, a lot of people would pay 20 bucks to get off their low pop server that doesnt run BGs, etc. |

| Well, I am sure the technology behind server transfers is already in place. What they are doing now is deciding what else to release it with, such as cross-server battlegrounds. With cross server stuff, the BG population issues become a little less of a problem. I certainly can't wait for server x-fers, I have some chars I'd like to move to friends servers. Doing just about anything with real life friends > doing MC with strangers. -Gieve |

+67 Internets | Yet on the flipside, alot of high population people would move to low pop servers to get away from queue's/overcrowding/etc... There's very little they can do to fix population concerns short of enforcing character limits and the like. Personally, I can't wait for it. Just now friends from EQ and other games are finding out that I play and want to come game with me, but making a new character can be a real bitch (heads up fuck you to the people that say "LEVELING IN WoW IS EZMOADE LOELZ I DRINK PEE." Try getting max faction with AV, AB and WSG, -twice-.) |

+2 Internets | Even leveling a second character to 60 on the same faction is very boring. Somehow, the quest system kills the replayability for me. It's better on the other faction for this reason. Server Transfers would be great for me. I have no idea if it would improve or worsen the situation of WoW. Maybe some servers should be blocked (but they'd need to compare the faction disparities, not the total population only.) I'd like to move my main character to another (very) high population server, where I have EQ friends. I couldn't find in me the strength to level yet another character to 60 to raid with them. I'd reactivate my WoW account for that. As for the price... 20$ is cheap, but I hope they don't go the 75$_EQ way, though. That's way too expensive for what it's worth. |

It needs to be expensive otherwise people abuse it.Doesn't mean people won't even while expensive, especially those making money off the game but it does control outflow and inflow a bit. It's per character as well, unlike EQ where they allow 3 or more depending on the situation.I think 40 bucks is a good number.20 bucks is to little, with the kinda attitude a great deal of this playerbase seems to have it woulden't be uncommon for people to be complete asses and transfer with a bunch of ninja looted gear,or obtaining horrible reputations and moving etc etc.Gearing up guild members only to have them vanish to some low pop server where they can gank all day against lesser geared competetion ,Ala the kinds of things that happaned with Strohammer when people figured out how to transfer around with gear. This is all assuming they allow you to transfer with gear, which from the board replies by CM's seems to be the case though I haven't seen anyone outright say it is so.If its a gearless transfer than NP,make it cheap....

| Offering server transfers off High-pop realms to Low-pop realms was definitely a retarded move on Blizzards part. The "residents" on the low-pop realms which have barely got past Lucifron shouldn't have to put up with a sudden influx of players that are pimped out in T2 epics. The smartest move to solve population problems should have been to restrict character creation on high realms, restrict creation on a faction that massively outbalances the other on certain realms and to quit opening new shitty realms that get played on for a month by people rolling alts who eventually get bored and go back to their original server. |

Although I think you still have to limit where you can transfer somewhat. What will stop people from transing 60s over to 1 day old servers? And yep, that is the main reason I don't want to remake. Fuck AV, think of how many hours it takes to farm exhalted with AB. You only get 100 faction a game or so, and that's if you win every time. When I was grinding AV faction, I went from honored to exhalted in about 1 week because people go to AV simply for rep. I got about 2000-5000 rep per game. And ok, few quick things. 1) The ghost town pvp servers come from people wanting to make new chars and then realizing they don't have the strength to do it again. This makes up for about 75% of a new server population. 2) I assume it would work like the test realm character copy system. You would get a certain number of copies (probably 2) and when you used up those copies, you're SOL.

That is an awful idea. It doesn't solve the problem of why there is an imbalance, and how pissed off would you be if you tried to make a character on your friend's server only to find out it has reached its cap.

| I rolled a mage on a nice low pop evenly matched horde/alliance pvp server. I get him to 55 and what do they do.. open transfers. Instant AB queues at 60 turn into 30 min queues overnight. Fuck that, give me a server switch.

+2 Internets | Server transfers will probably cause more problems than they solve. Still, a nice feature for it's intended use (Switching servers to hang out with irl friends). Also makes buying/selling accounts a little more viable, for better or for worse. |

| /coming soon coming soon to a server board near you P heh stolez our guildz sutff and erver moved to ?? weze loooking for dis asshole pst. weze loking for dat progam thingy to aszhol tracker plz pst links. Seriously though when I was not playing wow even a free transfer to a server of my choice would have gotten /so what from me. A good majority of the people I knew who left WOW was because they "won" and there was nothing left to do that they found fun or interesting. IE wildhammer dorf faction = who gives a fuck . As opposed to EQ leavings which ime only were a direct result of lifestyle changes that changed playtime availability. Coupled with the crippling go naked or don't go bullshit that the fuckstains at SOE had inplace for the bargain price of 75$. |
