Based on the size of the "beta", I'd be surprised if Vanguard wasn't pushing 10GB on release. A debug build with lots of placeholder data isn't that far off from what release will be, especially if there's a great deal of game data yet to be added.

qalar-drinal only has one nut... true story.

That's odd... my EQ folder was 4 gig when I played and that was about 5 expansions ago.

You can fill 11gb with textures and zone information in a heartbeat if you support higher resolutions.

Maybe you had a shitload of screenshots or logs. I have every expansion and it's 4.8.

Sheesh, Len. :P

For EQ2 "the test server stuff" is a separate copy of the game, since test can be running 100% different data, down to the last file.

4.4G base
6.2G for the works + all optional VO

(You can really tell when it's a week I have a producer's letter due. I seem to find all kinds of important things to write about that aren't that...)

VO is the debil. VO, and those asinine text bubbles that pop up when people / NPCs say shit.

OK, so maybe VO adds some degree of immersion for some people (not me, but some people, I reckon), but text bubbles just suck.

The main reason I haven't reactivated EQ in the past two years is cause I'd be missing so many expansions. There goes that...

I might pick this up with some of my Xmas money just to mess around for a while with my old character.

Great.

Now they just need to add 500 AAXP to anyone who reaches level 70 or whatever the cap is.

BTW: One of the more alluring things to do in EQ for me personally, would be to start up a team of 1-5 other people, and play at regularally scheduled times, leveling up(slowly but who cares) in dungeons or other cool places.

I did this two summers ago with my dad and an EQ buddy and it was hella fun.

We mostly did the old world + kunark dungeons. We had a bard(me), necro(dad) and BST, and they were all fairly twinked(the bard mostly, with fungi + fbss + lamentationish quality weapons).

If you had 6 people total you wouldn't need to twink people out really.

It's just kind of fun to do when you don't have to worry about finding a group and can go do the dungeons, mostly in peace since places like befallen or Kedge are dead.

The biggest problem is people start to play their characters offtime =P

I wish I could convince my fiance to play with me again from level 1...just duoing through everything and only wearing what we loot/camp for. That would bring back a lot of fun I think....but he never would =( He's already decided that EQ will never be the same and he's never going back. Oh well..he's right I"m sure. =(

Ok... dumb this down for me because I'm not getting it. At first it sounds like they are activating all acounts for 21 days of... ahhh, nevermind.

Ok, so where can 1 download the clients? God only knows were my disks are. I'd love to be able to jump in an say hi to the "Testies" that are still playing.

Edit : Bah, Burning beat me to it.

EDIT 2 : Found it here - http://eqlive.station.sony.com/suppo...ew_patcher.jsp

If they include near end game gear and a lvl 70 character with 600 aa's as well as 30 friends to play with, might be worth it.

Otherwise, no.
