| Duoing with Warlock in WoW? Tried using search function, couldn't find anything... I've never played WoW before but I know in EQ there were some great duos and some completely useless duos. What are some good classes to duo with a Warlock? We were thinking Druid/Warlock but it seems to me that may not be much DPS. We're leaning toward 2 casters if possible, though if a kickass partner to a Warlock is a melee that's a definite possibility. Being useful in raids is not high on the priority list, but it'd be nice to not have any problems getting us both in a single pick-up group. Also if you could mention what talent trees to focus on (again prioritizing Duoing > Grouping > Raiding) that'd be helpful. Thanks |

| You'd want some class who a) kills slow - so that you get the most out of your dots and b) can heal - so that you can use heal + life tap. Taking both a) and b) into consideration I would go with either of the healing classes, though I've found that duoing with a paladin is really nice, since he tanks good enough for you to use a pet other than the voidwalker. | Why would you even consider duoing in WoW? I mean yeah, the social aspect is cool, but you guys are better off just soloing side by side. This is not like EQ where even the basic of mobs handed you your ass. You can solo non stop in wow for days and get full EXP. Or duo and get 1/2. And im usre your efficiency would not make up for the 1/2 exp loss per mob. Me and my brother tried this in the early days of wow and that ended quick. We then soloed side by side doing the same quests and shit. |

| if you are just going to be grinding out quests and such, Warlocks can solo most every quest including most elite ones, so adding any class to the duo would work. Every class can pretty much solo but not everyone can solo the elite quests when they're level appropriate. Even just grinding I'd put warlocks in the top 3 for efficiency solo so adding anything you can easily kick things into higher gear (CoElements/Shadow definitely help out with resists on +3-4 mobs) I'd suggest a priest (which will easily land you both groups later on), the only issue is you'd be competing over +shadow item drops til the late 50's when the priest eventually respecs but its really no big deal. Once you're in your 30s/40s and each have a decent amount of talents, Curse of Shadow+Improved shadowbolt from the warlock + shadow vulnerability from the priest will just destroy mobs as you're leveling up, especially if you're both spec'd for shadow damage. I leveled up 17/31/0 Demonology/Affliction to soullink/Nightfall (with the "awesome" demonology changes), but respec'd to 31/0/20 darkpact/devastation and haven't once looked back. I'd suggest affliction/destruction while you're leveling up as well, with 8 into demonology for demonic embrace and Improved VW (VW sucks at holding aggro starting around the 40s without 3 points into improved VW), if you using the VW to tank for the two of you. Otherwise 5 points in demonology for the +15% stamina and the rest into affliction/destruction. The priest i'd suggest the 33 shadow/18 disc that's commonly seen til you're in the higher instances. You'll also both be spec'd decently for PVP if that's your bag. Edit: If you'll be wanting to do some PVP i'd suggest going horde (for the easier queue times and not having to fight Shaman), for PVE only I'd suggest alliance (easier quests, and paladin concentration aura for uninterruptable drain life & AEs) Hellfire is the best AE in the game as long as you have a good priest with you. +7 Internets | If you are on a PVP server Druid/Rogue is an outstanding combo for leveling up. Since both can stealth so you can usually avoid being ganked and pick your fights. Druids (any healer really) are usually demand for groups, but Rogues are a dime a dozen. If you absolutely want 2 casters Mage/Warlock combo would level up fast. Both are mana dependent so the mage water summoning would be ideal. With sheep/mez CC, great DPS, and the pet to tank it would be an ideal PVE duo. Since CC is very much needed in many instances Warlock and Mage definitely stack in groups. Not to mention both have AOE. Neither are as in demand for groups as healers though. A well played Warlock/Mage duo would certainly own in PVP as well. edit: Hmm you could also go for the whole "evil" vibe with Warlock / Shadow Priest. Priests are like Clerics in EQ, they get tells 2 mins after they log on for groups. Not mention Shadow Priests melt faces in PVP. Last edited by Froofy-D : 09-19-2005 at 12:22 PM. |

| well, a lot depends on the respective talent biulds of the people playing but, a shadow priest would be your best bet. renew + their dps + warlock lifetap = amazing grinding potential i have had a lot of success duoing with a mage as well. |

| I am assuming you mean 40+ and it depends on your build... Heavy Destruction(SM/Ruin, DM/Ruin, Conflag) - Get a healer and +damage gear, CoS and nuke the shit out of stuff, lifetap health back and have partner heal you back to full. Healer pretty much serves as fast mana regeneration and maybe a bit of damage. Dark Pact - Partner with someone that can snare/root go again with +damage gear. Pull with root/snare, CoS then nuke hard. Pact back the mana. Pretty much if you want the best exp duoing you will be playing the roll of "blow shit up fast" and your partner will either be a mana supply or a way to keep things off you for the 5 seconds it takes you to kill. Ideal in both cases is a druid.

| I levelled up with a Paladin partner with my Warlock. Not sure why so many think the VW is a good pet for a duo, it isn't. The goal is to kill the mobs as fast as possible, not wait until your pet has enough aggro, or play ping-pong, so Paladin was ideal. |

| Pretty much anyone is a good duo. I remember dot + fear grinding mobs for loot with a druid buddy and his travel form + healing + moonfire worked perfectly for non-stop killing. We filled our bags in 20 minutes. Plus he's got rez and you've got SS for those tough encounters. I'd go with a Shaman if I was Horde though. Also had good experiences with a Rogue and Shadow Priest. |
