Depths of Darkhollow Thread

I hadn't seen one yet so I figured I'd take the PLUNGE.

Opinions?

I reactivated EQ so I could try it out, good first impression.

Several of the monster missions are extremely fun, particularly the Lower Guk mission and the Nagafen mission.

The single group progression missions range from excellent to so-so.

The new warrior AAs are hot.

The new zones are well designed.

There are several bugs, but no real showstoppers.

The raids are fun.

The single group itemization is not so good, but the raid itemization is. How strange...

All in alll, a good expansion so far.

1) It was never supposed to be included, it was just thrown on the test server for like 2 weeks for *testing* before it got removed forever.
2) This is not the same system, your mob has missions to accomplish in an instance and can group.
3) Shut the fuck up if all you have to add to a thread are trite misinformed comments like this one.

Project M was not just something they put on the test server. It was implemented live on the PvP servers but the sheer number of people who were trying to be monsters just broke those servers.

It was removed for a couple reasons. The first was the breaking, the second was that even with no way to talk people still could find ways to act in a social manner and gang rape actual players with intelligent monster hit squads making PvP newbie leveling fucking impossible.

Then later on the Dev's claimed that they couldn't put it back because of code changes.

Misinformed indeed.

My point being that it was only tested on servers and that it was never advertised or definitly promised. SoE were never "supposed" to put it in again.

The first rule of Project M is that you don't ask questions about Project M.

The monster missions are really nothing like Project M, other than the fact you don't look like your character. gimpz0r just has his dick stuck in the caboose of the 'Hate-SOE train'. You can't really fault him for not being able to think for himself.

It was never advertised as a "live" feature. In fact, the week it rolled out they encouraged people to log onto the zeks using a different client to "test it out" Also, they warned repeatedly that it was just being tested out.

Project M was fun, but nowhere near as fun as the implementation of monster missions in DoD. In Lower Guk, you are a bunch of frogs trying to save the old classic nameds from groups of loot hungry adventurers. The adventurers use shout and ooc to say things like /ooc "Camp Check" /ooc "Assassin taken". Then your group of frogs runs to Assassin to kill the adventurers and protect the frogs. One you save one camp, ooc and shout get started again, and you run over to the next camp. After saving all the frogs at the main camp, your mission is complete.

During Nagafen, you face 6 waves of 16 NPC players of varying classes. The rogues say "$$" when they backstab and "what's evade?" when they die. The clerics say "ON ME!" and the warriors say "Next time let me keep aggro" when they die. The players that are not Nagafen play Warlord Skarlon, Arch Magus Rokyl, King Tranix, and random priest Fire Giants. You also carry loot that is used by the players if they kill you. If Nagafen dies, it's all over...

This implementation so far surpasses Project M that Sony could just release a monster mission a month and keep the masses satisfied.

Did this last night with my guild. Wiped a few times till figured it out, and easy once you do. Play alot priest fire giants. You a have a CH that will heal all 32k hps of naggy. ONce you do it you get mad aggro and other priests just heal you..ping pong the aggro a few times and assist naggy hitting up to 200ish on the raid. I must say we havent had that much fun in ages. Did a few other missions also were fun. Gonna try more tonight.

Test server and Rallos/Tallon/Vallon is very differant. If it makes it to the live servers and then gets taken away, and is also cool, people tend to be bitter. Sure, it was an odd little thing that had popularity no one could predict.

That sounds so awesome! Do you have to have a high level character in order to participate in this missions? I've got the station access pass because I play EQ2 and wanted to try out EQ again, but I've started over and am only level 23 at the moment.
