Anyone planning on playing on the new RP-PVP Servers?

Pretty much what the subject said. When I first picked up WoW I asked on these boards how the RP servers were, and everyone and their mom's dog told me to "wait for the RP-PVP servers." I've been somewhat randomly dicking around on Dark Iron until now, but once I saw that they were up (and I sat through the ridiculous queue) I went ahead and rolled up a new character.

Anyone else trying these out?

They just added a third server this evening, which will hopefully get rid of a lot of the waiting. I'm going Alliance on Maelstrom and Horde on Twisting Nether (I just can't see myself playing on a server called "Emerald Dream." Too gay.)

That was a bright move,now 2 weeks from now when 90% of the server realize leveling up another class isn't as fun as they expected and fuck off,little timmy the orc slayer is going to be running around with not but shit to own.

In another month all three servers will be merged into one.

Can I ask what the big cry was for the RP-PVP servers was? Are there that many people out there that feel they need to be "in character" as they are fighting off the horde/alliance.

I agreed with the outcry for RP-PVP servers because I think WoW should focus some energy on making alternate ruleset servers. This is a step in a good direction if only for that reason.

You will still have people being called "Madcow" or "Mooshoo" and other dumbass names.

As to the RP? Fuck RP in these games were dead since we hung up our Pencils and put away our DnD books.

Honestly I have not seen one person RP in a long time in any of these games, and I have played most all of them.

The RP servers in DAoC had quite a bit of actual roleplaying. I just played there to avoid people with dumb ass names, but I was often impressed with the level of RP out of guilds like Shadowclan.

It's too bad they didnt implement any special looting rules for the new RPG/PvP servers.

Heard a rumor they might use some of the principles found in EQ and the Firiona Vie server where there is virtually no "No Drops".

Had they gotten rid of the "Bind on Pick Up" that would have made it a very interesting server. As it is now, it's just another server with a new name.

I think mainly because the 'RP' part means the most obnoxious of the fuckheads will either not go there in the first place, or be spam-petitioned every time they do anything.

I play on a RP server, I picked it to avoid the general b.net kiddies.

There is RP, you just need to know where to look for it and what guilds to join. They have a TS server, as well as a chat channel to help connect RP'ers, as well as a UI addon to be able to spot them as they run by.
But standing in IF is probably the same as standing in IF on any other server, except that the general chat is 15% less craptastic then on a normal server.

I have a feeling that the PvP-RP servers will be popular just because of the amount of PvP love we have on my server (several organized guilds at the high end that seem to be getting tired of being restricted by the PvP on a RP server)
