| Coh Issue 5 is live - We get 5 free days ---------------------- "Five Free Days to explore the dread forest of Croatoa and new Sonic and Archery power sets! Labor Day just wouldn't be complete without some fun-filled gaming! This holiday, enjoy five free days of heroic hi-jinx and new Issue 5 content while getting ready for the highly anticipated sequel to City of Heroes®, City of Villains™ (see www.cityofvillains.com for details about the game). What a great way to end a super-human summer! Just log into the game between 2pm (CDT) on Thursday, September 1st and 11:59pm (CDT) on Tuesday, September 6th and you will find your account reactivated FREE of charge!* Your hero characters will be waiting just as you left them the last time you played, ready to lead the charge against evil. But hurry…this offer is only valid for a limited time, and once 11:59pm (CDT) hits Tuesday night, September 6th, your account will again be deactivated unless you choose to resubscribe. So suit up and move out heroes, Paragon City™ awaits! — The City of Heroes® Team" --------------------------------- I am probably going to use the five free days. I have already tried the new powersets on test (archery and sonic). I cancelled my account a couple of weeks ago, because the sweeping nerfs to every class were just too much. City of Villains beta invites are being sent out also, fyi. This is both the greatest and the worst MMO ever made. The positives are great, but the negatives are just as equally bad. I still reactivate my account whenever I get the urge to leap over small buildings, or run faster than a speeding bullet. If they ever deliver the endgame and a more complex enhancement system the devs keep hinting at, this will be a great game. But this dev team is too busy working on getting Cov out. And I am not crazy about paying an extra sub fee on a monthly basis for an expansion. For those of you that have cancelled accounts, it might be fun to take advantage of the five free days.

| Agreed. For me CoH was a one shot deal. You either hooked my ass within the first month or you would never get me again. I can't stand that game anymore. It looks all the same and, well, it just sucked. |

| My buddy got into beta... What pisses me off the most is that almost ALL of the nerfs coming in this fucking issue are due to the fact that they are copying 90% of the COV powers from existing hero powersets. The Scrapper nerfs especially piss me off, because these stupid fucks are rebalancing those ENTIRE sets around a power that only the COV Stalkers get: Hide. Basically, Hide is the COV version of stealth. Yes, I can see how the ability to disappear combined with the limitless regen of IH would be bad. But what the fuck are regen scrappers, who cannot hide, supposed to do now? These developers are the WORST in the industry, because they honestly have no real grasp of how their game plays. I figure that COV will be 2 months worth of entertainment, tops. Jack Emmert is a fucking idiot. |

| Teleport was the sweetest plum. I perfected a teleport fear touch combo that negated the power of the worst enemy in that game--the Malta motherfucker Sapper. I'd usually win in races to get somewhere, too, altho SJ would be right on my ass. I haven't been following the CoV powers list. Only checking in on the CoH forum to see if they've repealed their meganerfs. Hide doesn't sound like it would be any more abusable than going Phase Shift and healing up like that was. *shrug* unless Stalkers don't have to select 2 semi-useless powers from the inviso pool to get it. | I logged in to use my free five days. I made a sonic/sonic defender just for the heck of it. His origin: he was teleported to another dimension to compete in the "Rap Championship of the Multiverse." The winner would receive sonic powers. After slaying everyone with his lyrical skillz, he was bestowed the title of "Microphone King." After being teleported back to Atlas Park by the benevolent aliens, his entourage came up with an idea. His public relations team told him that fighting crime with his new hip-hop powers would allow him to sell more cd's, and get more endorsements. Therefore, he only fights crime when there are cameras around. Don't expect him to save you if you can't get it on tape, he'll be too busy looking fly. He's looking for a deal with Nike, and a movie like Eminem had (except it will be shot in another dimension). His weakness is bling-bling. Anytime he sees it, he gets so enraptured by trying to model it, that if his teammates die, so what?

| It's so lame that they ripped the look for sonics off of pre-existing sets. Meh, it looks better purple-colored. I'm tempted to install it just to take some shots of Shadow Shard, and illustrate why I think those 4 zones are just so damn cool. Last edited by Iannis : 09-01-2005 at 03:21 PM. |

| I played for about 15 minutes, until I realized that there is zero endgame. I have a high level tanker that is nothing but a wasted slot, as there as nothing for him to do.

QFT. Issue 5 is a complete waste of time by the way,"The forest of Dread" AKA Croatoa; is a poorly assembled mockery of a zone. The rest of it is just rampant nerfs. | |
