24hr downtime for ~20 servers tomorrow- hyjal on list - Page 3

Heh, A guy named "FuckYou" and another named "HateYou" are 'fighting'(well, FU really isn't). BTW: HateYou, gtfo jizzrag.

One thing I've respected about Blizzard is they've opted to not charge people for their downtime. Even when it's not been 24 hour downtime, they've still not charged them. Does anyone remember Sony/Verant doing this? Or how many other gaming companies do this? Even if it's a bit of a marketing ploy, it still speaks well of them.

That's my guess too - they'll take twenty or so servers down for a day at a time for upgrades (again) in a rolling schedule.

Those look like first day servers to me, hardware upgrade time for sure. Oh and they managed to hit every server I have a character on!

SoE did that last December or January, when there has been that big game crash that lasted 24 hours or so. Then everyone got double xp for adventure xp and tradeskill xp for the following weekend (it wasn't just vitality, it was a flat out double xp bonus until they brought the server down for a daily maintenance and took it off the next monday).

Main thing we've been having is finding out the item we got out of the bank 20 minutes ago has warped back, equipment slots swap, etc.

Haven't seen any of these kinds of problems on Stormscale, where I've been playing lately... summons haven't been working in MC for the most part, but thats been the worst thing. Stormscale was a Day 3 server, although relatively low-pop.

These are the exact same 20 servers that went to shit a few months back. It has nothing to do with what servers are stable/unstable in the past week. Whatever cluster(or wtf ever it's called) these are on is just plain shitty. HOPEFULLY this will finally fix whatever is fucked up with these servers and we can stop getting random crashes/downtime to "fix" them.

my guild was supposed to start working on the next set of bosses in MC tonite (we are a casual raiding guild- ie family comes first) we've started working on onyxia (got ~50 or so with keys) and have luci- baron dead atm...)

Lenardo - how many weeks have you been raiding MC? My guild started up a second raid group since the first was having to turn people away, and we killed lucifron/magmadar our first week, then luci-golemagg the second week (we did not kill sulfuron last week) and this week we killed up to Garr on the first day. Admittedly we have alot of help from the group 1 guys with tactics/placement etc. Just trying to gauge how we're doing.

I've had that happen a few times as well, especially in AV.. every time I'd die my inventory would revert to what it was when I first zoned in. It was rather lame to have to keep switching out 10 pieces of FR gear every death =/

Some weird problems I experienced on Cenarius:

- Zone into BRD. Nothing. Character is in limbo for 30+ minutes.
- Items vanishing after taking them from post box. Guildmate lost 10 arcanite bars.
- People can't join MC raids. They zone into their instance, we had 8+ people locked out last 2 raids. We tried everything (kill raid, new leader, rotate leaders, zone out and in, reboot, whatnot), even sacrificing sheep to Lucifer himself, no use. /raidinfo showed nothing for these people.
- Summons don't work at all in MC.
- Zeppelins dump you in the middle of the ocean
- Weird temporary lagspikes as if DB server and World server were in total de-sycn. Even in 5 man dungeons, no ping problems, then sudden freezes. Makes it unplayable. Has to be database related, my friend living blocks from me doesn't have this issues.

Pretty fucked up!

I hope they're got a handle on a fix and are doing the 20 servers-rotation 1-day downtime scheme to bring all the servers back up to par...

Fun on windrunner's included:
Not being able to zone in
Being rez'd in an instance to reappear outside an instance
Taking 5 minutes for a summon popup request to appear and then another minute to zone
Swapping gear and zoning to find yourself wearing your old gear
The usual 40-man raid issues
An extraordinarily high gnome count

BTW, has anyone heard whether they have an expansion planned? Running short on things to do...
