Basic idea is like cyberpunk, mega companies control everything and they hire these mercenaries called shadowrunners to do the dirty work they do not want to be associated with. Basically though in the 21st century magic returned to earth and some people who had some of these bloodlines in them transformed into the elves, dwarves, orks, etc.... Throw in a ton of civil unrest and a global right to bear arms... Download the genesis ROM and an emulator, gives you a good idea of the game world, Never thought of it as a FPS but given that everybody and their brother is armed it would fit neatly... plus shadowrunners tend to walk into fights as part of their job anyway.

| I'm kinda in the same boat with Tuco. I've been using keyboard for movement and mouse for aiming and firing all my life. FPS's are strictly for PCs for me. But this does look like an awesome game, albeit not an MMORPG ![]() |

| After seeing how well Vampire the Masquerade worked as a FPS--minus the bugs and outdated Source engine--I don't see any reason the same wouldn't hold true for Shadowrun. A PC version would be nice though (it's really looking like I'm going to have to buy a xbox360 as much as I fucking despise consoles ), and hopefully the game will sell well enough to make them go MMOG for the next one.Edit: thanks for the Genesis Shadowrun info... I never realized that it wasn't the same game as the SNES one (mainly because I never owned a Genesis). I liked the SNES game, but this one sounds much better. For anyone else who's interested, The Underdogs had the ROM and it appears to work fine in Gens32. Last edited by Vorph : 07-20-2005 at 01:46 PM. |

+6 Internets | MOTHER FUCKING VAGINAL LEAKING PIECES OF OFFAL!!!! Shadowrun is a ROLE PLAYING GAME. Not a first person shooter, not a card game, not a collectible action figure game, A ROLE PLAYING GAME. *sigh* Maybe if this proves to be popular they'll make a proper RPG... I knew they were doing something with the license finally but this just makes my heart bleed |

| Qhue, while I would sort of agree that anything short of a MMO is disappointing...have you played VtM:Bloodlines? Aside from being easily the best game of 2004, it was pretty solid proof that Shadowrun could work fine as a FPS, assuming they make the game in the style of System Shock, Deus Ex, and VtM:B. The only thing raising a flag for me is that I read it might be Bungie doing the development. Since I think Halo is one of the most overrated lumps of shit ever, I don't have a whole lot of faith in them taking a RPG license doing the same justice to it as a FPS that Troika was able to pull off with VtM. Of course there's also the possibility that you're right and it will end up being typical console trash. I guess we'll see. |

Speaking of seeing your character, I really fucking hope they add customization. My biggest gripe about the original Shadowrun for the SNES was that my character never really changed. Sure, he had a bigger gun if he bought one, but his clothes never changed, etc. It's obviously too early to speculate too deeply, but one can always pray they won't make it Halo with different skins. | |
