WoW : "Epic" weapon quests for the rest of the classes?

Okay so Warriors have a quest for a nice sword that starts in DM and goes to Onyxia.

Priests and Hunters have quests for cool transforming particle-spewing weapons that start with drops from Majordomo in MC.

What about the rest of the classes?

I recall 8 months ago doing various quests for really BAD rewards in the Mage quest line confident that somewhere at the end of all these visits to the crazy woman in the swamp there would eventually come some amazing Mage Quest that capped off that plotline. Not only did that not happen for any of the classes, but then we started seeing these Raid-zone class quests trickle into the game and then dry up as well.

Is there any sign of more of these quests showing up for the other members of raiding guilds?

I don't have the link off-hand, but one of the devs (Tigole?) posted that all classes would end up getting an epic item quest, but none were planned for the next 2 content patches.

unfortunate, but as I look at the rewards I can't say that I'm too dissapointed. other stuff is about as good or better depending on your playstyle anyways

what I am missing, though, is a nice little plot with some challenging aspects of what you see in the Hunter one...would be cool to do that

Are you talking about Quel'Serrar?

http://www.thottbot.com/?i=35887

Cause that is Warrior/Paladin. So truely the only epic class specific quests are for Priest and Hunter.

How many millions of $ and months of development time does it take to produce this stuff? I mean really looking at BWL and its overuse of existing character models etc I cant imagine it took more than one person one month to create it.

Oh but I forgot they have 6-12 people sitting in rooms discussing the nature of a horse-bridle theme for the background art of Medivh's Tower.. There really is no excuse for the sluggish progress of the top end content. "The game begins at 60" indeed.

I really wish I knew what was going on at Bliz so I could understand why things are the way they are. Maybe there are great explanations and sound reasons for everything, but we aren't told. This is me trying to be nice

Would be great if a top guy for WoW could be given permission to make a detailed letter to the players fully explaining a lot of the issues we've brought up over the past several months. Real answers free of PR spin.

Blizzard free of PR is like SoE free of BS.

It'll happen when WoW starts losing more than half of its customers.

From this thread. By the time they come out I am not sure how they will balance them in power with the current gear and epic quests.

Well, this thread is a start: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...tmp=1#blizzard

Tigole directly responds with a justification of why Blackwing was not put on the Public Test Realm, along with an explanation of what went into the testing. It's one of the most lengthy and frank rationales I've seen out of the devs. I wasn't particularly happy with the insinuation that future raid content would go live on the test realm where it could be raped with risk-free consumable abuse, but those are the breaks.

We're never going to see answers completely unfiltered of PR, but there's hope for the future.

I don't realy know why you are bitching mutch. It's not really and "epic" quest. Neither the hunter nor the priest one. It's just a small hurdle for getting an item really.

I actually liked the 4 encounters for the hunter, but really it's just a quest to kill 4 mobs. That's it. Quel'thasar is the same, there isn't much questing to do, you just wack a dragon.

You're really stetching about something to bitch about if you're complaning about hunters, priests, wars, pallies have a weapon in game that rewquires a small quest to get. Getting Sulfieron is as much a quest as these things.

Now I remeber hearing something about "life" quests back in the day that sounded like EQ epic quests.... but those have yet to materalise, and if they do and some classes get one and others don't feel free to bitch.

If you really want to bitch about it... how about the fact that hunters get ZERO class quests past the quest the learn tame pet at 10.

I was going to say stop your little bitchy whining and shut the F up, but i liked some of your previous posts

I'll take this wonderfull thread to bitch about how utterly retarded the warrior "epic" quest feel. It's not a quest, it's winning the lotto. Once you win the lotto, if you are in a guild that can kill Onyxia, it's trivial to finish. Getting that book should be an epic quest. Something that start at lvl 40 and give rewards along the way up until at 60 you are sent on a few solo quest, that turn into elites quest, that turn into, etc, to eventually get the final part done on Onyxia. If they don't want the sword to be too common they could maybe make it like the hunter quest where the bottleneck is the rare onyxia drop or something.

But please, NONE OF THIS FARMING DM 1000012030 times bullshit ever again.

I'm gonna call BULLSHIT on Tigole for the entirety of that post. The zone didn't even function when it was released. I'm not talking about the horrid lag issues, I'm talking about the encounter simply not functioning. This was then hotfixed with a drastic shift in difficulty after one guild nearly beat the zone on the second day of release.

Yeah I can believe that the load balancing necessary to properly run several hundred copies of the zerg-fest first encounter was not modeled correctly and couldn't be forseen until you got a Live environment. The truth is that the zone was not ready for Prime Time even though it was "tested" for months despite having something near zero new art attached to it.

I've seen Neverwinter Nights mods made by a single parent breadwinners in their meager freetime that had more inventive content than this raid zone that was the product of 8 months of development by a multi-multi million dollar company.

The zone's 'testing' was a joke. They tests to see if all the bosses would die and triggers would work. Thats about it. They didn't bother to actually test for difficulty or balance, or how triggers would work when there are 500 instances open with 60 mobs running around. The rational part of me says the gate didn't open because the trigger was so time sensitive, and in the lag it wouldn't work properly. The conspiritorial part of me said the gate bug was intentional. An extra failsafe should the zone prove to 'easy' it would cockblock guilds early to prevent damage of a full clear. People who had their gates open... they were the ones experiencing a bug. Now the zone has been knee jerk 'rebalanced' to prevent more clearings while they examine data and REALLY tune the encounters this time.

Ten bucks says we'll see some undocumented hotfixes on tuesday dealing with at least the first event. Hopefully they'll fix the 'hot damn we've got 10 dragonkin in the first two minutes' shit.
