Suspensions for going AFK in Alteric Valley

Rofl, so they are finally suspending people for afking in Alteric Valley. Good, this needed to be done. However, the reason for the suspension is ridiculous!

First, they never did come out and say that it was illegal to afk-bot in AV. THere was no exploit involved and no "trickery". All it involved was taping two keys down on your keyboard and boom, you arn't afk anymore.

However, the suspension i received was for: player "Lenaldo" was observed in Alterac Valley using a third party program to prevent from going into AFK mode for 30 minutes.

Now, I am not the smartest person, but I don't believe taping two keys down on your keyboard is "using a third party program".

I would not have mind being suspended for 24hours for afk-botting in AV without ANY sort of warning. But to suspend me for 3 days because I decided to tape 2 keys down on my keyboard is fucking insane. Hell, I know shamens who were exploiting the hell out of the windfury totem bug and not shit happened to them. People exploit the WSG log every day and nothing.

However, when people start going AFK in a poorly designed system it becomes grounds for a 3-day suspension.

Sorry, I have had enough of this shit. I don't mind being warned or suspended for 24hrs for "beating" the system. But with no warning and no indication that what I was doing was anything more wrong then buying items on the AH and selling them for twice as much the 72-hour suspension seems a little rash.

The best thing about Blizzard's suspension policy? You can't access your My account page to cancel your acct.

To sum it up for people who don't want to read it. I got suspended for using a 3rd party program to keep myself online. This third party program I used was holding down two buttons on my keyboard at once. Blizzard never said doing this would be illegal, and is only making a big deal about it because they fucked up with AV and need to cover their asses. I would have NO problem with Blizzard telling me that it was illegal to do that and to stop, but without any sort of notification I feel it is ridiculous to suspend me for 3 days.

On a side note, I found out that others using a rock or something to hold keys down were just given warnings via email, however I was suspended for 3 days. Some consistency amoung the GMs would be nice!

In terms of bad design, its a case of out of the frying pan into the fire.

The original AV, where people were rewarded for ignoring their team and the objectives, and just ran around ninja looting to be rewarded with one of the best weapons in the game was just ridiculous.

So they go and change it where you instead profit by afking all day.

How hard is it to design a system that rewards participation?

They make examples of the wrong people for the wrong reasons. Its amazing how they've continually treated their customers like shit, being it buggy content, the complete lack of communication or possibly the worst, the idiotic amount of time it takes them to fix whatever the fuck is broken.

I have no sympathy for you. Anyone who goes AFK in AV whether by third party program or holding down two keys should be perma banned on the fucking spot. Pieces of shit like you are why I can't organize people in AV anymore, because there's simply too many people afk leeching to do much. Fuck you, you should have gotten worse.

at least when people were ninja looting, they soaked up the odd rogue ambush or fireball, or did other easy shit like had pally aura up on their group or dropped earthbind totem occasionally...

Actually, prepatch there was no problem getting 30-40 people on a ventrilo server, and hitting targets/taking the map in relatively short order. Not only is it harder to get people on vent now, but even when you do you don't have the rest of the numbers to help support that. I'm sorry your server is stupid to the point where people make AV a pointless zergfest, but the fact remains that with a decent attempt at organization it becomes far less of a mindless zerg. Anyways, enjoy your ban for being a dumbshit.

I agree, that AFKing in AV should be a suspension. But Blizzard had repeatidly dodged the question of if it was legal or not. Even more annoying is the fact that OTHER people were sent emails today warning them not to do it, but I was suspended.

THese two things is what has pissed me off. Not the suspension. The fact that BLizzard has proved yet again that their GMs have no direction, that they don't communicate and basically make up their own decisions.

Fuck if I care if I am suspended for three days. I have to work all weekend anyways, the problem I have with Blizzard is their incompetance when it comes to running an MMORPG.

So, if you want to discuss that, continue posting. If not. fuck off?

This is no different then the current MC-DI to make people drop the flag in WSG or when you could stand on buildings and kill people without the gaurds shooting you. Imagine if instead of warning people to not stand on the top of buildings and shooting people they just started suspending them?

once again, you are missing the point. I am not upset that i got suspended. I am upset that blizzard has shown no consistency in how they handle these type of problems. Even more so, they suspended me for using a program in which i never did use.

And im sorry, a peice of tape != a program to even the dumbest person...
