+1 Internets | 1Up article on gold farmers.. Interesting article about how the gold farmers setup shop. Some rather impressive salaries if you are a farm "manager". http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3141815 |

| "A macro that uses a teleportation exploit in WOW is currently going for $3,000. Then just hire cheap labor to monitor the bots." Well hell if someone knows wtf this is, spill the info so they'll fix it ![]() "Smooth Criminal's game cartel made $1.5 million from Star Wars Galaxies alone last year, and individually, he's made as much as $700,000 in a single year. "[SWG] built my new house, which I paid for in cash," he says. "So when you ring my doorbell, it plays the Star Wars music." Smooth Criminal is in charge of writing programs, finding exploits, and locating in-game "dupes" (bugs for duplicating gold or items). "I have a real job, but when there's a dupe, I call in sick," he says. It costs him more money to actually go to his "real job." "When I dupe," Smooth Criminal adds, "I farm billions on every game server and spread out my activities." He then uses three accounts to launder the gold: a duper account, a filter account, and a delivery account—each created using different IPs, credit cards, and computers. This way, it's hard to trace the source, and the gold comes back clean." fuck Last edited by Kolle : 07-06-2005 at 02:43 PM. |

| Wow, pays good money to macro. They really should've quoted numbers for the Diablo dupers too, though, even if it isn't an MMO. I bet people made reams off of b.net. This is why, despite the distastefulness of it, we should start having it sold directly to us. Maybe then the money might actually go back into the game (i seriously doubt it, but MAYBE). Fuck these goldpharmer leech assholes. "LOLZ I BOUGHT MY NEW HOUSE IN CASH. TEH DOORBELL PLAYS THE "DOO DE DOODOO DEDOODOOODODO" STAR WARZ MUZAK. THANK YOU YANTIS!" | I played L2 for several months when it came out and kicked the eq habit, the farmers were thicker than flys. The chinese farmers were thick as flys (only korea blocks their IPs, not that that can't be beaten by a simple proxy, America last I heard still didn't even have that feeble attempt at protection)

| Which serious, hardcore gamer wouldn't want to make money off of playing games and selling the results to rich well-to-dos who couldn't give a damn about their millions? That's like the power gamer's wet dream: real life success through virtual pownage. And imagine this: the IGE farmers, while skilled, can't possibly obtain the gear you serious raiders and PvP'ers can get. MC runs for $10,000 a week for the win - who could refuse? Ah, yes, that's right: the idealists could. But which developer, besides maybe Brad, still believes in idealism? |

| Little do you know that secretly Brad McQuaid, Richard Garriot and a cabal of Developers are forming a mercenary team of ex-marine MMO players to take down these shops. Arnold Schwarznegger as "Tex" "Lets take those bastades out and go back to Alterac Valley, ya?" Sylvester Stallone as "Tank" "Yo Aradune, I got yo' vision, right here!" Jet Li as "Rang Rang Charlie" Richard Garriot as "Lord British", Brad McQuaid as "Aradune", co-starring Furor Daniels as "C3PO" and Tigole as "R2D2". |
