Blizzard has hit a new all-time low... Never again can there be disputes about who's worse; SOE, or Blizzard.

The ad in itself is pretty cool though

Blizzard still seems better than SOE. Coke > Pizza Hut

Am I the only one that thinks using cross-marketing is a good way to earn revenue?

I wouldn't mind commercials in load screens or changing billboards from flightpaths if it meant more money for the game makers(though it'd probably just mean more money for the producers)

Uhh, if you read the article, Coke sponsored the release of WoW in China.

I don't see Blizzard hitting a low with this at all...fuckin tie your game into one of the biggest corporate logos in the world? Sounds like a winner to me.

While I don't think there is anything wrong with it(or any company doing things like this), it does make me happy that all the dumbfuck fanbois who were crying about how Sony sells out, are eating crow now.

Companies like to make money! Welcome to life.

On a serious note. What is it with carbonated beverages that make them popular? That stuff makes me burp and feel bloated.

Pepsi > Coke

As long as it stays in China's WoW I don't really care. This doesn't compare to /pizza as far as advertisment whoring.

Out of game sponsorship of the game launch in one country <> /pizza or Station Exchange.

I think there's a small, but important difference here. Blizzard using Coke to advertise their launch is quite typical and says nothing of gamers and these type of tie-ins have been common for decades.

However, SOE making /pizza available in game is a new boundry. It implies that gamers are lazy asses(hell, most of us our, I know I am.) But we don't need that spelled out blatantly. Plus, it was a new type of tie-in that people aren't used to, and people hate change, so they reacted negatively.

Honestly though, you're conclusion is right. Corporations like to make money, I'm not surprised either are doing this. I would just like to see some lowered subscription costs/improved content from these advertising tie-ins.

Hah. Yeah, keep telling yourself that. All this shit is the same. There is no sanctity in the business world. But if it makes you sleep better at night, yes, SOE is the biggest evil in all the computer gaming world! /groan

Possibility of them doing a commercial like that in N.America is slim to none, infact i dont remember the last time an online game had an actual television commericial. I am sure its possible but i just dont see it happening.

Nah, SOE is just big so it really stands out (plus so many here hate them, ask anybody else and probably 95% of people don't care one way or the other) All corps are evil, just some are better at it than others.
