Designed to challenge characters level 25 to 35 in a mysterious region infamous for its links to powerful magical forces and deadly creatures. New Villains – The Cabal of witches, the nasty imps called Red Caps, the giant Fir Bolg and the legendary Tuatha de Dannan rule this realm. New Task Force – Perform missions for contacts in Croatoa to unlock the exclusive task force. New Power Sets: ---------------- Archery for Defenders and Blasters Trick Arrows for Defenders and Controllers Sonic Blast for Blasters and Defenders Sonic Debuff for Defenders and Controllers New Badges for epic character accomplishments and special badges for events within Croatoa. New Zone Events: ----------------- Hellion Arson – The Hellions are torching buildings and it’s up to the heroes to snuff them out! Troll Rave – There’s an upgraded Superadine source and the trolls are overdosing to create “Super-Trolls” that are out of control! New Debt System – Half XP Debt when characters are defeated in missions and no XP Debt until Level 10! Mission Customization – Many existing missions have been updated with hostage escort missions, villain wave attacks and more!" --------------------------- Some of this stuff sounds good. A bow archetype and a sonic archetype. Also, if you look at the link, there are pics of some of the new monsters: http://www.coh.com/features_update.html Too bad there is zero end game in Coh, or I'd be all over it. New monsters look great. I wonder, with the burning buildings, if this is what Statesman hinted at about the rescue missions that were seen in "Spiderman" the movie? I hope that they are going to address the lack of loot, raids, end game content and crafting soon after Cov. Also the ssocs (super secret out of combat system) would be nice. |

+14 Internets | yay more nothing for high level characters, and more reasons to start alts! Everyone loves alts, everyone loves re-playing the EXACT SAME GAME over and over again, with new characters. What happened to building and developing a Superhero, making an identity, having a career. What happened to Role Playing,in a Massively Multiplayer Role Playing Game?Oh wait that's right,CoH is simply a Mog.You are not supposed to get involved in your character cause everyone know's all superheroes in real life lvl to 50 and throw in the towel. I hate this game so fucking much despite it having untold amounts of potential. The dev team is just sodomizing it more and more as time goes on. |

| . Any idea if these are just copies of other power sets? I fear Archery being Assault Rifle with a differant animation.

It was kind of broken, instead of fire coming out of the burnt buildings, these wispy storm monsters appeared (you can find them in the Shadow Shard I believe). Surprise surprise, it seemed like the entire event consisted of hanging around the building until the fire "spawned" and then, what else? Kill it like a normal enemy. I will give them props for trying to make the zones a little more dynamic. It is fun to be in Talos, KR, or IP when those zone events occur. Much love for the ghost ship. | |

| Didn't they just completely rip the names for the mobs in the new area from some RA Salvatore books? At least I think it was him... Sword of Bedwyr maybe? Or was it all those Corona books? Last edited by Gilson : 07-01-2005 at 07:23 AM. |

+1 Internets | Tuatha De Daanan is Gaelic for Children of Light. Old asian MMO I used to play used a lot of gaelic. I'm currently playing the free trial, and it seems interesting. Half debt in missions is cute because soloing as an emp defender is gay. |

| Yeah, that seems to be intended for the weak soloists. They were rather upset there was no way to dial down your difficulty with the mission difficulty slider. "All right, Empathy Defender, I'll spread word on the street that you're Pitifully Weak!" |

Lotta the powersets completely overlap or are exactly the same with a different graphic (Fire sword and ice swords anybody?) CoH had a great idea but their implementation of it was too much like EQ without a really good driving force (Grind on stuff get... uhmm wheres my phat lewt?) Partial problem though isn't really their fault, hard to make a superhero world that translates well to a MMPOG. Ever notice how one dimensional super heros actually are? like the X-Men and a few others offa the top of my head: cyclops-shoots laser beam from eye, does nothing else... Wolverine-regenerates and has claws, nothing else... Storm- changes weather patterns, and nothing else... Rogue- leechs offa other peoples powers Superman- flys, strong and invulnerable, thats it spiderman- sticks to walls and shoots web... Hulk- Strong, thats about it Magneto- controls magnetic fields I can't think of very many superheros who have more than a couple of powers, usually its only one thing they do that sets them apart from the rest of humanity. I think CoH gave people too MANY powers to choose from and didn't do anything else for people to do. Most superheros seem to have to keep coming up with clever ideas or unique uses for their powers in order to pull stuff off. Of course this doesn't translate well cause its awfully hard to make a game where anything goes... A super hero game should use something like GW with the city being instanced instead of being one of 400 heros roaming the streets.... Just have superhero bases be the zones where players group together to form parties. Higher superhero groups can make their own bases (Ala guild halls)

| The sweet spot for COH content is 25-45. If you powered though those levels without finishing mission arcs, seeing the different monsters (hi2u Luska & Adamst3r), or doing the TFs, then you missed half the game. IMO, the best thing the devs did was Striga Isle. The zone itself is good, but the real beauty is that it's self contained. You dont get bounced from zone to zone to zone, so it makes the missions feel more connected. Also the 2 TFs there are awesome, with Hess' being the best in the game. It's got everything: Nazis, an evil volcano lair, and GIANT FUCKING ROBOTS! |

Superman? Flying Invulernability Super Speed Super Strength X - Ray Vision Telescopic Vision Heat Vision Arctic Breath He's like five mutants. In DC you are much more likely to find heroes with a bunch of powers, or if they have one power, it's scope is gigantic (like Green Lantern, Plastic Man, The Flash).
