I remember when the guy playing EQ killed himself I thought, "With 400k people, and only 1 person has offed himself, the headline should read, Playing Everquest prevents suicides."

Had a sorta similar thing happen in Australia a couple of weeks ago, parents left their children (all under 10) and their friends children at home whilst they went to the pub, theoretically under the care of a babysitting friend. The babysitting friend decided he wanted to go to the pub to, the parents saw him there and did nothing about it...the house burnt down that night killing half the kids.

Haven't heard anyone in Australia talking about blaming pubs though...funny that...

Ya something similar happened in Toronto, here is a link. Of course the legal system only gave the stupid mother 3 years...

This being said, my sister spent 9 months in Africa and apparently it wasn't unusual for parents to leave young children unattended (though not for 33 hours as in the previously linked story).
