The idea isn't to duplicate WoW any more than WoW duplicated EQ. Some people call WoW "EQ done right". WoW has its own set of problems, but it really expanded the playerbase. You could make Vanguard "WoW done right". That still leaves a lot of room to make the type of game you like.

Wow surely expanded the playerbase, but it didn't expand the fun and lastivity...quite the opposite i think.

And my character will be an average looking dude with thick box frame glasses. He'll have a "RANCID" sticker on his camo backpack. When a mob considers him dubiously, he'll summon all his powers of emo to drown it with tears.

This game sounds awesome.
