That's one of the sad stories of EQ. Luclin could have been great in theory. It had everything it takes to be a fun expansion, they just didn't finish it. The whole town of Seru was basically empty. Quests were unfinished, tons of NPCs had no purpose. The whole storyline Katta/Seru was not implemented. What a shame!

I assume the sudden success of DAoC made them rush things to stop the flood. The funny thing is that they stopped believing in their own concept at the same time. All of a sudden they would copy DAoC features because they thought that this is what customers want. Wrong! EQ customers want EQ and not DAoC, that's why they kept playing EQ and did not leave to play DAoC.

Now what's the matter with Kendrick? Did he leave SoE because they wanted to push him to release Luclin unfinished? Did he leave Sigil because he doesn't like what the game is turning out to be? Is he some sort of hero who will fight for his beliefs and who will take the consequences if he loses the fight? Or is it just all coincidence?

Well I have been called out, haven't I? Because Drtyrm can't browse the forums like I do, I will go to the "Where's Kendrick?" thread and find the blue response.

Honestly this is the first piece of "bad" news from Vanguard. I post every little dev thing I can find, be it mechanics, graphics, gameworld, theory or whatever. If people don't like said dev post, then people attack it, call it a game breaker for them or whatever. I don't ignore bad news and I post everything I find because I sort of enjoy the "title" of unofficial Vanguard guy on these boards.

I am not a Vanguard insider. I don't have a "Deep Throat" working undercover (although if Nino or anyone wants the job let me know). Brad doesn't talk to me about Sigil business or impart any news of info to me that he doesn't release to the rest of community and I don't have a bug on everyone of the devs phones. I don't work for them and I live a few thousand miles away from San Diego. I am just someone looking forward to Vanguard and want to give the posters on these boards (whose opinions I respect, for the most part) all the info I can.

As to what info I have, well here is what Cindy Bowens said in the thread linked to by Khalikryst, since people can't just click on the link:

Wasn't hard to find. How many times in your line of work doesn't someone leave and they release a press release to the world detailing how and why it happened.

I cannot see how Vanguard can be geared for the hardcore yet retain enough subsribers to maximize income. If they somehow pull that off, Brad is the second coming. I am silently praying he succeeds.
