Complaining about EQ2's login being down for a portion of the day is pretty asinine considering WoW's less than stellar track record concerning uptime.

I think most people are past giving a damn about bashing SOE ,it's not fun anymore,and the sad thing is the competetion is suddenly acting so much worse that really any mistake they make pales in comparison.

The complaint was not that the servers are down its that they dont have their shit together enough.

They are not professional, and imo, the abortive mess that has been EQ2 is demonstrated nicely with their contradictory server status page.

I stand by my thread title, for me SoE is summed up in a nutshell by a page that says the servers are both up and down.

heh.. the servers were up, just they were locked. the script they use for server status probably (not 100% sure) doesn't distinguish the two states.

I am sure that was it, but it was just pretty weak, and indicitve of how little actuall thought is going into the game.

I never look at server status pages to figure out if a server is down... I just try the patcher, If i can't log in I try later.

The server status window has NEVER worked for planetside.

It doesn't matter functionally, all it does is show that they dont give a flying fuck to be accurate about something as basic as telling you whether what they are offering for money is working or not.

Again, my whole point is not that the damn thing is down, its that they dont even care enough to have the page that says it is make sense.

They cant even be bothered to communicate the state of the service properly.
