Ironically I just cancelled my account, which had been active pretty much since release.

They really fucked up the game by adding PvP. No one uses it because it is completely and utterly unbalanced and pointless. Plus, because they focused so much on PvP, there's been no new PvE content since January and there won't be until the next Issue, which probably won't be out till around the end of the summer.

Unless it's been 8+ months since you cancelled, there really is no point in even reinstalling it.

I think 5 days is about how long the game is fun before it becomes a repetitive bore.

exactly. The Arena was nothing but proof of concept (look, we CAN have PvP! BTW City of Villians website is now launched!) It's just...just...so dead at those colosseums. And the update hasn't even been live for a week. (well, maybe it has been over a week. Thankfully the godawful memory leak or lag bs or whatever was causing it was hotfixed.)

It would've behooved them much more to add in a new 30-40 zone (Striga really is a pretty cool zone, and no war walls makes the place feel...non-city like) as well as the out of combat system.

My bet is Jack Emmeret is realizing how much of a huge endeavor that system is. A quote I read from him said something like that. If he wants to do it right instead of half-ass it more power to him. The grim reality just being an MMO is something that needs it *fast* as well as *good* (hey, blizzard! this means you too!)

It's a fun game. But nothing but Hamidon raids does get boring...that encounter needs to become a supergroup trial (ie not having 30 people who actually do the work and have 150 other stains show up at the *very* end for their free "participation" hami-o.)

1-3 months, respectively, for the early killers. And no ETA on Blackwing Lair that I've seen which is the next big raid area=/

I wouldn't have minded waiting a little longer for more high-end content had the PvP not sucked so much. At least WoW is getting battlegrounds to break up the monatony, which seem to be at least somewhat fun judging by the reactions I'm seeing here.

CoH's PvP is just so horrible it's beyond words. The winner of virtually every single match can be accurately predicted beforehand.

In 1v1 I can tell EXACTLY who I can and cannot beat just by seeing their archetype and power. No amount of skill on my part can overcome that. It really takes the rock/paper/scissors mentality to an absurd extreme.

In team matches (if you can even get one started, since no one ever PvP's anyway) it is just as predictable. The team with the most squishies on it is going to lose almost everytime. The winning team is determined by total kills, so it just turns into a match where the scrappers rape the blasters/defenders/controllers as many times as possible while the tankers wander around trying to be useful as everyone ignores them.

Not to mention the fact that there is NO FUCKING REASON to PvP. No rewards whatsoever. Even their chess-like rating system is pointless because it's so exploitable. The highest rated guy on my server basically cheated his way there.

And to think, they spent months and months working on this shit that no one is using when they could have added in another zone like Iannis mentioned, chocked full of new missions, story arcs, task forces, and badges.

Oh well. I still hold out some hope for CoV, which looks like it's bringing objective based PvP (capture the flag maybe) so it might not suck quite as much.

Sorry for the complaining, but I really loved this game and it makes me mad that they are completely destroying it.

And I also have a free, 14-day keycode if anyone wants it. Everyone I know bailed for WoW or EQ2 months ago, so I have no one to give it to. PM me if you want it.

My problem w/ the game when I left a good bit before WoW came out was the balance.

As a scrapper, I could solo ok, but a few other class/builds could solo SOO much better.

And in groups, unless evereyone was w/in 2 levels of each other, someone was useless or someone wasn't getting enough exp for their level.


Every fight was charge in and kill everything. Mash the same 4 or 5 buttons over and over.

Plus, I left before respec and costume changes. I didn't think it was right to force the early gamers to trial and error to see what was good, then be stuck w/ it.

I loved the concept though. And to this day, no MMORPG talent or ability is as cool as super jump.

They did add content since January, they added 8 story arcs for Kheldians.

Sure, that's not huge, and not for everyone, but it's more content than Blizzard adds in 4 months. /duck (Yes, yes, I was kidding, don't get your panties in a wad).
