Finally a use for the Charisma skill in a game. Vanguard has diplomacy but I am not sure if this will be linked to a cha stat. Personally linking "agro", something a warrior wants, to a skill that will not benefit them in damage makes for some good balancing and character development.

One of the best things about the PnP D&D was the ability to make nonstandard characters. The fighter with high intelligence and charisma was able to get experience and do well in noncombative situations, sometimes even more valuable than the player with the powergamed character sheet, because of the imagination of the DM.

Dungeon Masters in the PnP version are what really sold campaigns, good DMs made everything (even character deaths) worthwhile. Bad ones merely let the story progress and sometimes used some original thinking. The DM text referred to in that article, I hope, will be something to expand the limits of the game rather than a ingame Cluebott™.

If it's even vaguely true to the PnP rules, just play a magic-user or cleric and annihilate entire armies at L20.

I guess no one learned from Blizzard's great implementation of meeting stones...
Meeting stones would have fucking rocked in EQ. Was so fucking sick of being list holder or worse yet, list holders that would shuffle their friends in ahead of you.

Sitting in Sage-Exe and/or Cav-Sav camp in Lguk with a list 12 deep on a napkin... 100s of people I didnt call merely because I put a drink on the napkin and the ink ran all together. Ah well... usually the little ranger that wanted in would just stand at the group and stair at you fight till a spot was ready.

Ill dig up more DDO info today. Beyond that, if you are becoming interested in the game and have yet to hit the site - ddo.com - I read some of it but highly suggest checking out Kale's Book of Dev.

http://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3340

Kale runs a DDO IRC (sorcery net / #ddo) and is just about clinically obsessed with DDO as Kitty Dukakis is with Nyquil. The book of Dev is every comment devs have made in the past organized into topics.

lates.

Little more info...

Game play seems to be running very smooth on the following computer at E3

"Turbine was running P4 3.0 systems with Radeon 9800s"

Seems like a reasonable PC to run a game smooth.
