+spell damage increases spell crit?

Yeah, probably gonna see this get "rickshawed" real quick but I have to ask.

Here it is...

I've started stacking on +dmg for CP farming lately for a total of +190ish on my priest.

I percieve that I'm critting a lot more often and I've recently encountered other people who have independently come to the same conclusion for the same reason. (Loading on +dmg for CP farming in Hillsbrad.)

Has anyone else seen the same?

BTW - SW:P doing 270 per tick and frequent 4-digit Mind Blasts are a lot of fun.

I'm at a lower level but I haven't seen any significant increase in crit rate by going to heavy +damage gear for soloing, at least in PvE.

If anything, I've lost crit rate because of less int on shadoweave.

dont play a caster so Im sure this is going to sound like a newb question but does +spelldamage help wands as well? what kind of damage could you get a wand up to if it did help?

Wand is a skill like 1h mace, dagger and 2h sword. The only way to get more dps out of that is to get a higher ranged attack power or a higher skill in wands which, as far as I know, is impossible. The only real difference between a wand and say a crossbow is the damage type (physical vs. magical) and the part where my wand requires no ammo.

Oh well, the impression I have is strong enough for me to test it. Guess I'll find out soon.

I'm not missing the 600 hp and 800 mana I lose in +dmg either. The absurd melee/shot damage I take has already reduced my HP to a 3 point life bar. I rarely bother to Fort myself even.

Priests get a talent that can increase wand damage. That is all for now though. They need some items that do that now that wands will be autoshoot. hunters and so on get +whatever to range attack power. Caster classes should get +whatever to wand damage.

Hah. Have you been to the WoW boards lately? There are 80 page threads started by hunters saying that "auto-fire" should be a hunter-only perk. Afterall, casters can actually sustain 100 dps now! Fucking nerf those bitches. Priests doing something other then spamming flash-heal rotation? Nerf those faggots.

Yah mages have the same talent. Its not worth it for either class though.

This is honestly more the fault of whatever CM decided to say at one point (I remember seeing the post) that autofire was meant to be one of the perks of the hunter class.

And this wasn't that long ago, really.

Still, though, what a stupid thing for hunters to get up in arms about.

Since starting beta I've probably cast a hundred thousand SW: Pains or more. Never seen it crit. Never seen any dot crit that didn't have a DD component.

Although each dmg tick can vary depending on the certain number of +dmg gear and stuff like shadow weaving.
