| PvP Flag - Optional Level Limitations I posted this under WoW Suggestions, but thought it might warrent some review by our more outspoken members who simply dont read or post to the WoW Forums. Read and Flame away! ============================= It would be nice to be able to set your PvP flag to limit yourself and others in terms of levels that you can attack as well as who can attack you. Example: COMMAND: /pvp all This would allow you to have open PvP. You can attack anyone else who also has "/pvp all" enabled. Level 1-60 would be open season as long as there flag is also set to "/pvp all" COMMAND: /pvp 10 This would allow to have limited PvP. This would allow only those 10 levels above or below you from attacking you. In turn you could not attack anyone that is not 10 levels above or 10 level below you. I used 10 levels as purely an example. This number would have to be set by Blizzard as having an option to choose anything you want would be far too limiting. NOTE: If you use "/pvp 10" this will also limit your interaction with others of your faction. Example: If you turn on "/pvp 10" then only those factions which are also "/pvp 10" can heal, buff or offer you any beneficial spells or skills. ================================================= This could also apply to PvP Servers to limit SOME of the 'ganking' that I hear about. It certainly will not stop it altogether, but it may limit it. This was just a thought discussed among some friends. What do you think? |

PvP Servers in general, over time, begin to build an unwritten code of Honor/Conduct, but this is something that builds up over literally 'years' of play. In the meantime you have level 20's getting slaughtered because WoW Servers are still immature and communities are still building. I figured this 'might' be a step in the direction of forced honorable actions rather then waiting for people to get frustrated and quit... Again, it was just a thought I had and I appreciate your response even though i dont agree with it.

| Seems like it would get too complicated real fast. How do you handle support classes who are engaged by a myriad number of people with various /pvp flags? Who can you heal? Buff? The devs have already owned up to the fact that pvp is messed up right now because battlegrounds aren't in and areas that aren't designed for it have become honor farms. |

| Anything that prevents "hardcore PvPers" from being able to gank people 30 levels below them won't be met with much support, unfortunately. It's the new form of playground bullying that you can do from your armchair while being a 120 pound weakling IRL. |

Enabling that on a pvp server removes the "fear".

Fear is one thing, but being a complete cockblocker to some newbie is another thing. As a level 60 I fear no one. As a level 1-45 you fear everyone and everyone 46+ looks down at you as fodder better looking dead then alive. Evening up the playing field a little bit might help these folks hold there own and perhaps PvP against people they at least have a chance in hell of defeating or getting away from.

As for the idea, it's generic and worthy of B.net where you posted it in the first place. No real specifics just: "Hey I got an idea, wouldn't it be great if we weren't ganked?!" Sure everyone agrees, but you have no idea how to implement it so you make up something like a text line command that allows you to pussify a game for the kids like Duppin at the expense of Risk vs Reward. There's gotta be some risk, it can't simply be player defined as you're suggesting it should be. Nobody is forced into PvP. When they choose to play on a PvP server or choose to be tagged, they should know the risks. Too many games recently have turned wannabe hard-core players into the biggest whiners about fair play. edit: Fucking Elgonn, he beat me to it, and much more succinctly I might add.

| I am gunna have to agree with Elgonn on this. The point of a pvp server is there is persistent danger in contested areas. Dishonor should be enough to discourage low level ganking. Give greys a different colored name tag, a dark blue or something. If they heal or buff someone within your level range that gets stripped. |
