| Listen to Selwyn, he is right. I too had the dude get owned at the gate by the elite patrol, I too had to go back and get the illusion again. I actually failed this quest 4 times, it wasn't until my fifth attempt that I finally got it right. Basically, you can assit the dude in the town as long as you feel safe doing so but you don't really need to. Once he reaches the gates and faces the 4-man elite patrol, he could very well get killed, so wait a bit, then jump in and help finish them off. Then once he goes down the hill to the tower, do like Selwyn said and just stay the fuck out of it, WAY out of it. Get up on the hill across from the tower and stay somewhat south of the action because some elite guards will come running out of Hearthglen to come fuck your shit up, so stay away from them. At this point, the rest of the quest should pretty much play itself out. Then you just gotta talk to Daddy once he's slaughtered everyone. But yeah, I agree with you on the vagueness of the quest. Like I said, it wasn't until my 5th try that I finally got it right.

| The quest text preety much states he want's to get owned. Although I woulden't of noticed unless it was pointed out to me. Cause i dont read the first 3 paragraphs of the quest just the last which tell me what to do. |

You'd get a weird screen and enter the last area. I flat out deny this was an attempt to be as "clever" (used very loosely) as those games.

| Based on what you originally posted FY, I surmise that the fight you "saved" him in is not the one in which he actually is supposed to die, ie the one by the tower down the path a little ways from the gate? If this is true then you just encountered that random gay bug that crops up from time to time in all escort quests, the npc will just fade out for some damn reason. As for the quest being not at all "obvious", if you are soloing the quest there is no way you can save him from the actual fight in which he is supposed to die. Therefore at that point you either die if you are aggro too or you are not aggro and watch pappa bring the pain. If you do die then you can still watch pappa clean house before you release and come back and finish the quest, he'll still be here. However if you're the type that doesn't think that going back to get the illusion again after failing is an obvious thing to try then you need to stick to the "go here, kill this" quests. I find it amusing that so many people bitch about how easy this game is and how easy all the quests are and here we have a quest that might require a little trial-and-error and suddenly its a poorly designed quest. Blame them for the bug that made him fade away too early, but don't blame them for your actions of looking up a spoiler and getting confused. | Get used to it, I guess. The GM's are goddamn idiots. When we asked our pals in the CS department why MC was resetting every single day (not a terribly important complaint, aside from getting way too goddamn many druid boots and gloves) we were told to have every single member of the raid remove his UI addons. I'd love to find the "make raid instances reset daily" UI and apply it to onyxia for a couple weeks. UI addons seem to be their favorite scapegoat and answer to any question they don't have a real answer for. |

+62 Internets | Did they change the quest some? Because even with 3 people the final guy still ass raped us when we did try to step in (priest-mage-rogue). It wasn't so much a matter of "don't help" as "Doesn't fucking matter." |

+5 Internets | They must have changed it or something - when I did the quest about two~ months ago, I had absolutely 0 problems escorting the dude to the tower where he dies... I did have a porblem there though, where I got summarily assraped after junior bit the dust. How was I supposed to hold my own against like 8 elites? I ended up dying, and came back, luckily, to see fordring sitting there with a big ? over him. I was relived and pissed at the same time. |

| 1. It doesnt matter if you drop the illusion. 2. It doesn't matter if you help him throughout the whole thing. 3. You have to help him on the first Elite charge. 4. Let him die when the Scarlet mage dude calls him a punk bitch. 5. Watch his dad molest them (you can help him). 6. Profit.

| they may have changed this in a recent patch as i no longer play the game, but if you get aggro once the escort quest has arrived at the tower (where the crusader enchant drops) and you die, don't release, just stay put with your rez timer. after the father rides in, kills the high inq mob and then mourns his son - as long as you haven't released your corpse, you should still get the quest completed. |

| what is so hard about this? 1)Escort him out of hearthglen and follow him to the tower down the road. You arent required to help him.* 2)mage dude comes out of the tower and talks to him then kills him 3)his father shows up and kicks ass 4)you talk to his father and finish the quest *I had to kill a few of the guys that attacked him when he got just outside of hearthglen or he probably would have died.

"Whats so hard" is that: 1. He tells you to drop the illusion, but you do not have to. If you listen to him, the quest is made somewhat harder since you can agro guys in Hearthglen on the way out and die. So right off the bat we are getting incorrect information from the NPC - he says he will kill you with the illusion on, but he wont, and keeping it on is actually better. 2. He does not say whether to help him or not. After running the quest four times, I have observed that he *can* die within the walls of and just outside of Hearthglen. Once he makes his way a bit down the path, he can CH himself and can not die until intended to. Basically it's a good quest, but I think the hard part is supposed to be Stratholme and not praying a script executes properly. Here's what needs to change: 1. Rework the quest text and emotes from Fordring. Work in that the player can assist Fordring, but may put themselves in peril by doing so. Remove the "drop your illusion" part since it is untrue. 2. Fordring is essentially invincible once he exits Hearthglen until he gets to the tower. Make him invincible from the moment the script kicks off. It makes no sense in the story line to have him die in Hearthglen, and is confusing. 3. Put in an emote from Fordring before the east tower telling the player to stay back. Change the dialogue between Fordring and the 63 Priest to shouts, since if you want to get close enough to hear their exchange, you run a huge risk of agro and death. --- I was able to complete the quest after several more tries. Thanks to those who gave advice.
