| FY is right. Every escort quest I have been on (starting with the one in Redridge) I have had to kill to keep the NPC alive. This one should be no different or it should be stated that it is. Unless there is some lore in the wording of the quest we are missing. "Please escort me Gin.. but if I am about to die... keep your hands to yourself and STFU!"

| i have not yet tried this, but i am dubious since the parcel came from Tirion Fordring and was to be shown to the hag to obtain the scarlet illusion. I no longer have the parcel - junior Fordring took it when I spoke to him to advance the quest. Older Fordring has nothing for me. I'll go talk to the Hag later today, but i'm not hopeful.

If it's not a hard quest to figure out what to do, it shouldn't be hard to type up a quick explanation of WHY .[edit] That should work, FU, if you abandon the quest before chatting with the Hag.

| . NPC's tend to have an unlimited supply of items that need to be given to other people. A different yet similar example is the Chasing A-Me 01 quest in Un'Goro: You give A-Me 01 a mithril casing, and she becomes a functional robotic gorilla needing to be escorted out of her cave. When you fail, she respawns and when you speak to her, she is still a functionin robotic gorilla becuase you've already turned in the mithril casing. ![]() |

| The hag will most definitely give you another illusion, however be sure to discard the quest before you talk to Taelan again (In Dreams) or he won't respond to you. And you do have to help keep Taelan alive at the gates, paticularly if the Elite patrol happens to come by at the same time, just be sure to not over aggro. Ideally you want to keep your illusion on until you reach the two outer guards at the gate and then help him with the Elites. You can help him before that, it's just easier and he doesn't need it until then. After that take your position high in the hill across from the tower where the Crusader Enchant drops (follow him until he is close so you don't get out of range). Wait for Taelan to pick a fight with the 63 Elite and Crimson Elites that spawn and watch them kill Taelan from a safe range. Daddy will ride up and then kick some ass. You can help him after he has fought a bit, I suggest tagging the Crimson Elites since they can drop the Lightforge belt and Orb of Decption, just be careful. After he finishes, let him speak his mind and then turn in the quest. The gate is the only tricky part and only if you have bad timing and it can be done solo.

| Also, I have noticed most quests don't tell you what to do if you fail. The first thing to try is to try the last NPC (or the one that sent you to that NPC) and see what they say. Then try dropping the quest and talking to them if that didn't work. I think they did a really good job of closing up the holes and variations that could happen in alot of these quests. I have been pleasently surprised on several occaisions of the variations that they thought of when I thought I was screwed.

| i just went and talked to the hag - she will give me the illusion again, even though i am without the parcel. i remain concerned about what taelen will say when i reach him since i no longer have the parcel to show him - maybe she will give me one or something. i am pleased with this development and recind some (some) of my previous comments regarding this situation. i still feel however that the quest is extremely poorly detailed, and that this situation should never have arisen. it was really a buzz kill and could be fixed in five minutes of text changes.

I barely remember it right now, but either I fucked up or the quest for the shaman water totem is misleading as well. I recall finally getting the water sapta after running from one end of the world and back twice and when I used it to spawn the elementals and I killed them like one has grown accustomed to doing when monsters are spawned, but it turns out that I killed an elemental that I was supposed to have spoken with instead. Then I had to run from over by the Sepulcher the entire fucking way back to the Barrens by Ratchet to get a new sapta. When I finally got back, the troll witch doctor guy made me feel like a dumbass by walking me through every part of the quest and explaining that I should just talk to the water elemental and then watch him and all the little elementals return to the sea. In the end I realized that the message was that water holds the power of restoration and healing, and that such power is just as potent as offensive and defensive power and just as vital to a battle. I suppose they did their job in that regard, but it certainly was annoying at the time. Last edited by Fammaden : 04-20-2005 at 10:43 AM.

| As long as you have abandoned the quest, Taelan will let you escort him again. I know because I failed the escort several times before I was able to complete the quest (either I or Taelan got killed too early). Also, if you die before Daddy finishes fighting, just don't release until he finishes talking and the question mark appears. Then release and run back, rez and receive your reward from him. He sticks around for a while.

| IIRC, when Taelen reaches the tower point where he confronts the high priest of the SC, he says something to the effect, "Let me handle this, you take care of yourself". Or maybe I just made that up. |
