| 1900 x 1200 widescreen for vanguard BM posted a couple of shots of Vanguard on his new $1,000+ Dell 24-inch Flat Panel LCD "widescreen"Monitor. http://www.vanguardsaga.com/forums/s...threadid=10880 A little too rich for my blood. But grats to all the Ritchie rich gamers out there. ![]() Last edited by Brash : 03-12-2005 at 07:49 PM. |

| I hate that UI edit: anybody know what the deal is with the wound box? Do you get wounded and lose damage over time or something?

| WoW supports 1920x1200 also. Been playing it on a Sony SDM-234 since launch (early adopter so I paid out the butt for it though of course) and highly recommend playing in widescreen. I have enough room to put two reasonably sized text windows on either side of my hotkey area (3 10 button bars and the normal bag/menu buttons) and have 2 more text windows above the bars (so 4 total, one for general/trade/bullshit, one for combat, one for tells/group and one for guild chat). Plus you get better peripheral view with it which is nifty for PvP. As for Vanguard, I agree that I hope they don't equate "earthy palette" to "realistic". But at least their interface shows some color so I'm still holding out a bit of hope. Although I've never been particularly fond of a game interface that looks like an XWindows app. But I guess that's what custom interface skins are for. But with TKing on board, I was certainly expecting something a bit more spiffy than that. |

| looks like theres a lot there and graphics are good quality. As for Ui - this is a dev release not production or even beta. looks like a decent skeleton they can build on. time will tell though |

| You are not damn right | Looks too much in the EQ2 graphical style for me. I really, really like the WoW style graphics, immersion without the need for a 900$ graphics card. I genuinly hope that vanguard is good, but I just don't think I can bring myself to play a game in that style, I'll have to wait for the next generation of game graphics. To me, it seems EQ2 has alot of potential (in turn vanguard) in terms of graphics, but the technology just isnt there yet. I mean shit, look what it does to comp performance. The UI looks half decent.

| I'm not going to pass judgment on the graphics right now, but I don't understand why everyone is uptight about EQ2-like graphics. I signed up for the Trial of the Isle thing, and the game looks great - the textures aren't too shiny for the ambient lighting and the bumb-mapping is realistic (given that I have a 6800GT, but it's nice to have graphics that are made for the future line of cards but can also run on the old cards). Anyway, that combat queue box reminds me of The Matrix Online combat system where you pick an action and then it goes into a "Queue" (PLEASE DO NOT TRY The Matrix Online, it is really bad, which could be seen from a mile away, but wow the environment sucks). I actually like the MxO combat system; you have to anticipate your opponent's next move and try to counter it.

The second shot has nice geometry detail, and the colors kind of fit for what it's a picture of ( although I think more color on the pillar paintings wouldn't be out of place), I just hope the rest of the game is not the same... | |
