SWG: GM Event - Lord Vader visits a guild.

About a year ago, some die-hards on the Valcyn SWG server started a stormtrooper guild called Alpha Company, 203rd Tatooine Expeditionary Stormtrooper Legion. While everyone else was quitting SWG, they did patrols and more patrols. And drills. Gradually they shed the kooky roleplayer image and went looking for rebel installations, evolving into a pretty good PvP force. And began recruiting.

This week the devs finally noticed the live, disciplined stormtrooper garrison on Tatooine and did something cool ...

Here is a shot of the event. There are more on the site.

He came, inspected the troops/guild and gave a speech. Even arrived in a Imperial Shuttle.

Now I don't play SWG and haven't in a very long time, but this is a cool GM event. One of the best I have ever seen. MMORPG need more things like this.

The servers have to be up longer than a few hours for the GMs to have events...

You have to admit, as dorky as it may be to play SWG this day in age, that's still pretty sweet.

I remember GM events in the heyday of EQ. Some GM avatar would show up and immediately be surrounded by half the server's population, crammed into one zone. Everyone would stand around rattling off buzzwords, in the hopes of being recognized as a "roleplayer" and awarded with whatever uber l3wtz were about to be doled out. Usually some level 6 newbie would received said l3wtz, only to quit or eBay himself two weeks later.

Good times.

thats prety good.

shame it will probably lead to every other guild in the game bithching and moaning because the GM's dont give them as much attention as guild X though.

Hmm sounds pretty cool. Image links are all broken though. Actually, I dont think I have ever successfully viewed an image hosted by imageshack. Its always just ads.
