I'm a closet pyromaniac, bog I always found it really funny the smallest spurt of flamethrower would wreck a car, and murderize anyone who came into contact with it.

This has potential to be very, very good.

What I would like to see is a scaled down version of the entire United States. Have every big big city in the country be in its correct geographical location in respect to other cities, but keep the map at a decent size. Maybe like 250 miles from coast to coast, with real highways n shit spanning the entire way. IE Interstate 10 would take you from Los Angeles, CA all the way to Jacksonville, FL. That would be the shit, especially if you can hang out in your hometown.

The feel of the game would be nothing like the single player game, especially GTA3 onwards.

With the street gangs and cops being real people, they are going to have equivilent weapons to your own, and wont be totally incompetant. People who love GTA3 for the killing spree and going to get a shock when the human controled cops drop them with sniper rifles on every half assed attempt at a robery, or when rival street gangs stop their drive by shooting attempt before they can even fire their first bullet.

The in game skill based challenges might be a little more portable as a concept. (dropping off packages, races to put hits in on NPC's etc)

I think what they'd have to do to make it a really good game for team effort is to let any side's "guild" (gang, force, ring, etc), be able to acquire a base (station, crack house, hideout, etc). Raiding the opposite side's "base" would own, and there could be situations where the cop players couldn't raid it unless they had some sort of in-game "evidence" that gave them permission to break down the doors.

So many possibilities.

Eh, GTA 1 was playable over the interweb ... and it ran like SHIT: total lag, syncing problems, etc. That's a ton of shit that's needed to be considered.

I don't see how they would populate the world as densely as what is required to make the GTA games fun...

MMO? It would be impressive if they made GTA work with network support: 2 players. Make them from different gangs...

...but figuring out how to make the missions continuous if there is only one story path is the trick. Pulling the MMO copout (and letting missions be done repeatedly) is just bullshit.
