Anyone going to do this "Trial of Isle" EQ2 deal?

I know am, because personaly im disgusted by World of Warcraft at the minute. I have a 51 rogue and 60 priest and still seem no reason to log on. Most people are enjoying becuase there on a high pop, or even medium. I'm on a low so therfor we're only doing UBRS and I have every piece of magister. Anyone else gunna try this for kicks?

Is this the same as the newbie isle of EQ2? When I heard people referring to it I thought that's what they meant...

...if it is the same thing, I'll have to say that the first newb isle in EQ2 is a total hoax as far as saying "Hey, the rest of the game is just like this!" It's the equivalent of taking teldrassil, sticking a "requires a group" boss near the end, and cramming tons of upgrades/secrets in one little area.

No, just, no. You can tell it's "no" because you get a lot of people levelling up tradeskills on the first island, and not leaving it till they do all of the tons of quests that are there, etc.

I don't think you really hear the screeeeeech of the levelling brakes until the mid teens/level 20, but it sure is there.

But the rest of the game is quite a bit like Teldrassil. I'm curious about EQ2 too, I just don't get the analogy at all.

newbie isle is a decent intro to the game - but low levels are not that great - the 20's were so much better than the teen levels and the teen levels were better than the newbie yards. So far the areas in the thirties are so fun and challenging for the designed levels its sorta pissing me off that I am outlevelling some of it before making the most of it. From others they are saying the 40's and up are also a step up in the fun/challenge.

it aint for every one - no mmo will be even close to being so again.

Hm, I saw teldrassil as being far more contained than the rest of WoW. Everything all in one spot, not too much travelling, and a huge variety of stuff within a small proximity.

As you level, it spreads out - longer travel times, less variety of things to do. For instance, I've found maybe 3 "timer based" quests, and gosh, one of them was within 20 minutes of playing.
The point I was trying to make is how jam-packed teldrassil is... the only other zone that comes close is maybe STV and that's because of it being a hub of cross-factions.

Oh god.
Oh dear god.
I can see a pizza hut advertisement on EQ2's homepage. "Order Pizza Hut pizza while playing EQII!"

The first image that comes to my mind is a 500 pound fat fuck in a dark room, surrounded by pizza boxes, and wearing a stained shirt that doesn’t cover his stomach. Maybe they should add an in game interface that lets him order without even getting up for the phone!

I reccomend it.

I downloaded it two days ago and haven't logged into WoW since. My roommate and I went out and bought the boxes yesturday and are enjoying learning a new game and actually *gasp* having things to do.

WoW at level 60 just has nothing to offer me. This may change once they start publishing content patches, but I really like a lot of what I see in EQ2.

My only "complaint" thus far is that my XP 2100/GF4400 can't actually show me the nifty EQ2 graphics. And let me tell you, even on my outdated machine, the level 50's in EQ2 actually look... well, badass?

[mandatory WoW gripe] How many level 60's actually LOOK good? If you have any questions, and choose to play on Grobb server, shoot me (Dalar) a tell.

Fluff. It runs at 60fps on my 6800 gt with a gig of ram. Looks great.

But...it can't because it's eq2! Zieg hail!

the way to fix WoW is by releasing 3 to 4 content at once.

and i think they are doing it

instance in ferralas, lower silith, battleground, maybe something else -_-

until then i will log on once in a while to raid onyxia and mc, but seriously, i think blizzard did this on purpose to keep players "off the game"

I can't wait until some of the more vocal people here quit WoW and start playing EQ2 - the rants alone will be worth it.
