| Please give me feedback on how the leveling feels 20-30ish when you get there please guys - still got about 3 weeks before my EQ1 cycles when I'd switch it to All Access to resubscribe - and assuming it's still painful then you could save me some cash. (which I've heard a few reports it isn't anymore - although from posters I'm less familiar with) [I was in my 40's, but 20-30 is when the first slowdown hits, 40-50 being the next] I'm optimistic that it won't be bad in those levels - but $20 is $20, heh. (Especially since I still have to rebuy OoW and DoN for EQ1 yet, sigh - got plenty of cash, but just seems to silly buying everything all over again, really never expected to be back) |

| EQ2 still needs an assload of elbow grease to be considered polished, but I enjoy it. The development team is committed to making a fun game, and the fact that they're willing to admit their mistakes and make controversial game changes after the fact is a good thing IMO. Also, it makes me feel much more confident about the future health of the game knowing Scott Hartsman (Gallenite) is Senor Producer. He tells it like it is and it's glaringly obvious that he gives a shit about the game. The fact that he's also a programmer and understands the game's mechanics is a good thing. Another plus is Moorgard, the community spokesperson, isn't a complete fucking moron which seems to be a job requirement in other MMORPGs. In the end the game isn't for everyone. It'll appeal to different people for different reasons, while others will think it totally sucks. Of course I may get home from work one day and say "this game blows", but I'm having fun and looking forward to more levels and content. Oh and I didn't think lvls 20-30 were that bad Vaclav. Here's my level progression: http://eq2players.station.sony.com/e...erId=224337203 I went through 20-30 in a tad over a month and I'm pretty much a casual player. Most of that was working on the level 20 armor quests then doing exp and quests in Ruins of Varsoon. Last edited by Kalamos : 02-19-2005 at 10:53 AM. |

| EQ2 is a great game. The grouping mobs together thing is really quite interesting and adds a fun element to the game - yet it also requires a group to do anything somewhat rewarding. For instance, a lot of you guys starting out in Freeport will find the Fallen Gate heavily group oriented. In fact, impossible to solo at the level you first enter it. Every instance/zone in EQ2 that I encountered through 42 levels is similar in the requirement for grouping; yes, even after the solo content added patch. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of having to group (old school EQ style) for hours on end to get anything accomplished. Actually, I think it's sick and twisted, and only gonads with hershey-highway designs succeed at it. Wait, I did succeed at it. Oh well. That type of playstyle is in the past; hopefully everyone can move on... somehow. I now play World of Warcraft as well. I kept my account for EQ2, just for the hell of it. Just to laugh as people start playing the game they knocked for so long that their eyes turned different shades of brown when they entered their credit-card numbers on SOE's webpage. Hardy har, fucktarts. I mean, *cough* enjoy the game. It's a fun game - well designed and actually more fun to play than the original. World of Warcraft is fun for me now too. Just on a more relaxed basis, I'm on my second character. The biggest difference I note between the two games is the playerbase. The people I met and interacted with in EQ2 are a far different cast. I feel as though the term "Bnet Fuckbucket" is adequately deserved for 99.935% of the populace on Feathermoon, and it's a god damned RP server for crying out loud. Ta,

| I just didn't like it very much. There are some things they did which I think is good that other games need like the long term buffs. I hate recasting shit on everyone every 5 seconds in wow. Overall the game feels old. It feels like one of those dinky single player rpgs you'd buy for your comp, except 10 years ago. It's hard to put a finger on, but the quests, how they look, the way it plays out, the land and graphics...it just doesn't look like a game that belongs in 2005. Especially one with such high requirements to run with all the stuff turned on. One thing that also bugs me is I felt like they were forcing me to play a certain way and no other way but that. It's like some nerd jackass wrote down everything in EQ that he didn't like players doing, not because it was wrong but because players were actually being smart, and made sure you were fucked up the ass in EQ2. I can just picture some dev watching a group while invis, seeing them kill 'his' mob. They didn't exploit, but used some tactic so he got pissed and thought, "they won't do that shit again! they have to kill exactly like I think it should be done."
