Stealth Nerfs

So I like to read the WoW boards for the amusement at times. And apparently when asked if todays maintenance was going to be a patch they replied no. Well apparently there where a few changes made to spells in game such as Mind Soothe for priests and something for Warlocks as well.

My question is what does everyone here think about it? I remember SoE getting crucified for such tactics yet it seems Blizz is doing the same thing. Why would they not just announce it and let people know ahead of time of the changes?

Blizzard doesn't need to have downtime to apply changes, they stealth nerf things all the time. Only difference is their changes aren't knee-jerk reactions (read monk mitigation :P)

I hear it only got changed on the server that had the super long downtime... so maybe it some stuff that got pushed live by accident? /shrug

It would be more classy to not stealth nerf and try to give a positive fix along with a negative fix... priests are in need of a number of serious positive fix as it stands.

the mind soothe nerf is in line with the rogue sneaking to the end of the dungeons.

except now rogues can still sneak to the end, while priests have

1) more risk
2) have to stop running to cast it
3) can only soothe humanoids

The reason why this was nerfed is because a priest doing it this rapidly could push an entire group to the end of a dungeon really, really quickly.

It just slows the process down and applies a bit of risk to doing it, as well as making it entirely impossible to do in some spots.

The warlock change is they made certain demons immune to charm. Now one of the changes makes sense (In winterspring there was a demon that could crit for like 2600 and did like 600 a hit), but they also made other demons immune that arent all that powerful. There's your knee-jerk right there ;/

WTF is point of enslave demon if they are going to start making every POS immune?

So what happens to rogues?

Okay so we've seen a snippet from the next patch in the form of this change to the lull spells. I wonder what is planned to deal with the Rogue issue?

I have to say that the complete and utter lack of thought on Blizzard's part about some of these things is staggering.

MONTHS ago in Beta there was a big stink about Mages using invis to bypass content and gank mobs. Back then I and others told Blizzard that the exact same thing could be done and was being done by Rogues, Druids, Priests etc and they promptly ignored it.

Now we have this heavy-handed change come down to Lull spells (honestly did any of you retards ever play EQ? Lull spells have always been an issue in these games you dipshits...) and yet still the issue persists with Rogues and Blizzard doesn't seem to care.

They've been so rabidly fixated on Sleep and Invis that they turned a blind eye to all the other glaring mistakes.

Someone high-up at Blizzard plays a Rogue, and doesn't want his "pet class" nerfed? (Pure speculation there.)

seriously this shit makes me think im playing eq again.

im not gonna lie and say soothe wasnt overpowered, but they just made it useless.

give a cast time and make mobs attack on resist, fine. humanoid only? worthless.

Hah! I can live with all of that but being restricted to humanoids and/or removing the instant cast just sucks.

Why not just add a small cooldown making soothing of entire clusters simultaneously impossible?

I never bothered to use the spell in the bypass manner myself.

Several days ago, Doan's loot was changed to sell for 1/4th what it used to. This nerfs every rogue who doesn't disenchant. Weeks before that, they put a limit to the number of instances you can create as well.

I'm making more money in Azshara than I did in SM. Seriously, enough with the rogue stealth whining.

Blizzard could have left Mind Soothe the way it was and simply brought it in-line with their class stacking philosophy on CC spells/effects.. Only one active Mind Soothe per priest at a time. With most instances having clumps of 3-4 mobs you have to deal with at some point, only a group of 3-4 Priests could still pull that off stunt. At that point, you've got a full group in an instance, so who cares?

As far as rogues go, Blizzard has painted themselves into a corner. Even if Blizzard added 'see invis' mobs, rogues can just sprint through an instance like SM and then Vanish to lose aggro. Granted it will take more time, but it's still doable.

Seems only the green drops. Feathers still drop as abundantly as before, and it didnt seem to bother the other 12 people farming Azshara 5min after Hyjal came back up.
