offhand proc penalty?

does anyone have any data as to procs from the offhand? is there a penalty? considering offhanding thrash blade, and was wondering if the (already low) proc rate would be gimped even more.

Don't have any solid numbers for weapon procs but from comparing rogue poison procs, the main hand fires off twice as often as the off hand does. This is easy to see since Instant poisons have charges and when the main hand has depleted all charges, the offhand still has roughly half the charges remaining.

Procs

Thats because you swing your mainhand when you do a special, so it has alot of extra proc chances.

Seems pretty easy to find out with Cosmos. Get a one-hand with a damage dealing proc, parse with it in one hand for a while, check the number of times it went off vs. attacks, then reset data and put it in the other hand, parse for a bit, and report back here with your findings.

I've been offhanding Thrash Blade a lot recently and it seems to proc quite a bit.

that was really my reason for asking. im also now offhanding a thrash blade - its too bad the damn thing is so slow or it would be more suitable for mainhanding.

I would agree here... I don't think there's an offhand penalty on procs at all.

I got 3:1 ratio using 2.8 delay weapons in each hand, and spamming Sinister Strike constantly every fight. Leveled a bit more and I'm now using 2.8/1.9 weapons and it's now a lot closer to 2:1 on the poison charges. 20% is 20%, and faster delay in offhand seems to be better for dps overall due to a lot more procs.

Are normal procs dependent on weapon speed? I thought they were a function of time like EQ's procs.

It might be me, but in my experience any damage procs on weapons disrupt my warrior's delayed-attacks like concussion blow, cleave and heroic strike. I haven't really tested it with DoT's and other procs yet, but I know my Fiery Weapon proc does.

With "disrupting" I mean that when you select the move that's to be performed on your next swing, any procs that happen between selecting the move and the next swing, cancel the move-selection and as a result you do a normal swing.

I could be wrong in this, but I seem to recall a patch about a month before open beta started where they changed the way procs work to be directly related to weapon speed.

Weapon Procs

They are a function of time, unless the proc specifically states a percentage. So poison procs, procs from items (Whelp Gloves etc), all can go off more with a faster weapon.
