Seems like EQ2 is not as dead as some are lead to believe....

"LAS VEGAS-Though a formal announcement won't be made until next week, we were able to spend some time with Sony Online Entertainment to discuss its forthcoming plans for updating the popular PC role-playing game, EverQuest II. With 310,000 paying subscribers on the books after just a couple of months, it sounds like the game has taken hold quite well since its release.

With a forthcoming update that comes in a new form known as an "adventure pack," SOE hopes to deliver a more engrossing story for its players, complete with a new zone, new items, new monsters, and of course, new quests."
WoW, 300K+? Not bad at all.

I wonder if it's including All-Access subscription people? I know some people who have an EQ2 account through that, but have logged in like once .

It might be, and if thats the case, then the numbers are skewed somewhat.

But how many actually pay SoE for the all acess pass? Im willing to bet not many. I mean, how many of these types of games can you realistically play simultaneously and make any headway in them? Play Eq1 and Eq2 together? How much time do these people have on their hands?

No idea, I was just being a Devil's Advocate. An All-Access would make more sense for a family then, say, someone who reads this board though.

[edit] Some could also use it for Planetside + EQ? heh /ducks.

No pun intended? It's funny to see how many people involuntarily spell wow, WoW. Guess it's a sign of the times.

Glad you noticed it.

Nice to know!

Don't see how it relates to a g-damn thing as no one was asking how WoW account #'s were generated, but good job! /thumbs up.

P.S. Please, God, send more hurricanes his way.

Heh, aye. It was either that or just reply "....and your point is..?" but I figured this would be better for his unsaid EQ2 vs WoW point.

Does it matter? I stopped having fun playing EQ so I quit. When new games came out I coulda went with a new company/completely new game, or I could have went with the company that sucked all of the fun out of the last game I played. I chose the former rather than the latter.

That said, if I was still having fun playing EQ, and I decided to play a new game I would have chose EQII. I bet there are many of people that did that. I'd be willing to bet that most EQII subscribers are currently subscribed to EQI.....good for them as long as they are having fun doing it.
