So I've seen Scholomance, Lower BRS, and Stratholme...now what?

So I hit 60 about over a week ago and since then I’ve been doing my best to keep myself from getting bored, some PVP action here and there and working on some quest when I feel like it along with trade skills but mainly what’s kept me going at this point is instances. So far I’ve hit everything mentioned in the title with the same 5-man group (warrior, shaman, mage, warlock, priest, all 60) and meat with varying degrees of success. At this point it’s breaking down like this:

Scholomance: Cleared the zone 3 times, finished (I believe) all of the quests, opened up the ghost town and gotten my servant bell (not directly related too Scholomance but the quest is unlocked after you finish a Scholomance quest, the deed’s to be precise). Aside from class set helm’s that drop off of Darkmaster Gandling it seems like a waste of time to head back into the zone, farming maybe but given you have to clear so much to get the viewing room key every time and there are no shortcuts even that’s a stretch.

Lower BRS: The Warlock in our normal group has his infernal, the priest has his prayer of fort (rank 2), all of us are done with the warlords command quest, and we only need 2 more people to grab the key parts for UBRS. We’ll be back because we have too but where not going to enjoy it.

Stratholme: So far we’ve basically worked in though the front door and gotten about mid-way though the ‘dark’ side before calling it quits due to lag. Everyone has run though the entire zone with a ‘raid’ group before or in a 5-man during closed beta so where all very familiar with the zone, right now it’s just a matter of getting in and working deep enough to make it worthwhile. On the upside it has some decent loot for three of us (cloth) that would count as upgrades but what’s holding us back is the lack of decent quest lines and the prospect of clearing a zone without being able to tackle the last boss (the aura is an issue) for class set legs.

Right now it’s looking like Stratholme is are next big task but sadly it’s being met with a less than enthusiastic replay from our group given how slow things move inside with a 5-man group (anyone whose been probably understands). The other options we have are raiding upper BRS or Strath while working on outside instances quest lines. The problem however is none of that is horrible difficult or worthwhile in most cases, doing a good General run with 10 is pretty standard now with the right people and adding another group makes it cake in most cases, Stratholme is very much the same way.

The point to all of this is I’m at something of a loss for what to do with my time at this point, sure I could still benefit from a number of drops from the 2 big instances (UBRS and Strath) but both of those are shaping up to be 5+ man engagements and having anything but 5 men makes it so much easier the fun gets sucked out of the whole experience, plus the loot changes from ‘cool it looks like (X) finely dropped, about time you got it’ to ‘/random 100’. Has anyone else hit this wall?

As a side note I’ve tried UBRS with a 5-man group two times and both times we wiped in the arena because we fell behind on the spawn rate. I’d be interested to know if anyone here has managed to make it past the event and event tackle The Beast since retail.

People on Hyjal have been tackling him, I believe, but they are doing it with raids as that was how UBRS was designed. Need at least 2 groups from what I've been told.

Try reading a book, writing a book, or join EQ2 for the forever grind, and or doing anything else. Maybe you've hit your saturation point with this game and it's time to go bye bye.

Oh we’ve been killing the general for awhile now, at least twice a day for a week or so.

So far the fewest people we’ve done it was is 9 I believe, the groups looked something like this:

Group one:
Mage (myself) – Warrior (MT) – Priest (MH) – Shaman (totems and 2nd healer) – Warlock (blood pack)

Group two:
Rogue – Rogue – Priest – Shaman

Basically we just chain feared his guards after clearing the room and went to work on him with both healers in the MT group focusing on healing, I focused on nuking as hard as I could while the warlock focus on keeping the left guard feared (left just because he picked that one to target). The second group had their Priest focus on keeping the right guard feared and healing as needed for the rogues while the Shaman went pure DPS along side the rogues, both of whom where using Deathstriker (apparently this is the best dagger in the game at the moment). Managed to pull out the kill without any losses and then took his guards down one by one, sadly the another priest robes dropped (3rd in a row *sigh*).

On a slightly different note for those of you actually killing the general what has your drop rate been like? So far I think we’ve seen 3 Priest, 1 Shaman, 1 Warrior, 2 Paladin, and 1 hunter. Those are only the raids I’ve been on, not sure about every other killing but so far no warlock or mage robes have drop yet, I’m guessing of all the classes those are the rarest but I’m interested to see what anyone else is getting as the sample size for Alla at the moment is really fucken low.

How to Make Your Raid More Entertaining

Or do what I have been: Horseracing N00bs.

At the start of the raid, everyone there who wants to play picks a level 1 character that's currently playing and hands 1g over to someone to hold.

The first n00b to hit level 3 ends the race, and his rider gets the prize.

The funnest part is using tells to urge on your horse, encouraging him to grind the hardest and hunt the fastest. Even promising him the kid a share of the winnings.

Tip: Avoid names like "AuctionSpy." I say this from experience.

Have you ever been down to LBRS?

Imaging the answer is yes then you’ve no doubt gone down a ramp leading toward two wooden bridges right around the very start of the zone after the first pull (3 Orc’s + 1 Orc raider + 2 wongs). If I remember right there is another (optional) pull with a few Orcs on the ramp but the main focus is actually turning towards your left and then running up another ramp, trust me once your standing there you’ll understand. At the top you’ll see a lone Orc that when you approach changes his shape (pretty cool actually) and turns into a human, he’s the quest NPC.

not to come across as a insult cause its not but, this is really why rushing to max level this early in the game isnt such a good idea you really miss so much stuff and are left with not much to do.

hopefully Blizzard adds something for you guys that are 60s that takes up time so your not just sitting there running through the same instances over and over. What they could add i really dont know i do know AAs is most likely a bad idea if implement similar to how EQs is the never ending grind to max them out and 98% of the player base never did that so hopefully they do something but not that.

Do what people did in Diablo 2 after they ran out of content...

Create another character again and again and again and again...

Sounds like your missin a grip of quests.

You didn't mention anything about Dawns Gambit or Ras, The Human.

I also suggest seriously 1 grouping stratholm. Few of us did it yesterday and it was a great challenge. Some of the hardest fights I've had in WoW (not counting raid stuff).

Doing Rammstein/Baron with 1 group is a great challenge. There is also the whole line regarding Archivist/Balnazzar/Baron. Good lewts to be had.

Highlight for me though was Rammsteins head. Excellent ring reward on that. Got 2 of em =)

Anyway, still plenty to do. Is your guild doing general and gearing up for onyxia? You may want to get on that...
