Hamstring, why?

Someone want to explain what's the point of rank 2 and rank 3 hamstring? I don't hamstring shit for the damage, so why should I buy those skills?

Why buy it? Because its green at the trainer, and its there.

The higher rank hamstrings' snare increases in effectiveness by 5% per rank.

The extra ranks of hamstring are great for pvp, I put points into it. Generally as a warrior, the first thing that most classes do when I start hitting them is they run. An additional 10% movement reduction is all the difference against kiting classes and people trying to get away.

In pve it's not that great, so put your points into something equally pointless like tactical mastery or improved charge. Not a big deal.

He's talking about skills, not talents. Hamstring, Revenge, Thunder Clap, Mocking Blow and Shield Bash are not used for their damage, yet that's all the higher ranks add to them.

I don't think some of you are understanding me. Not the talent, improved hamstring, the actual skill. And just to clarify and to make sure I'm not seeing things wrong:

Rank 1 of Hamstring snares for 70%, hits for 8 damage, lasts 15 sec

Rank 2 snares for 65%, hits for 18 damage, lasts 15 sec

Rank 3 snares for 60%, hits for 45 damage, lasts 15 sec

So I ask again, why should I buy rank 2 and 3? And for those of you who haven't played a warrior, our skills work differently. You buy the next rank in the skill, it automatically replaces the previous rank, you don't have access to it anymore. So buying rank 2 might permanently fuck yourself over.

I misread.

The answer is very obvious then. I would say the same thing. Because the improved ranks of hamstring are better. They do more damage and have an increased effect.

There's no way you can screw yourself over. The higher ranks are better in every way.

Yea Awanka is right, higher ranks of hamstring are better than the previous because the snare effect is stronger. I knew you meant the ability btw and not the talent that improves it.

Yea the wording they use to explain speed reduction is kind of unclear at first glance. Took me a read or two to see what Awanka meant.

I stopped using hamstring. Now I just switch to berserker when they run and intercept.

Works pretty much the same, and it's more fun

As an aside, with improved hamstring people on horses can't just ride away. It's hysterical because they'll try for about half their lifebar before the panic kicks in....

For the rest, I get the higher ranks of revenge, etc., because more damage for the same rage is more damage. I've crit revenge for a little over a hundred, too, so it's not horrible for low-rage instant damage.
