| WoW Dps Maybe it's known from alot of beta people, but really, how do classes stack in dps in general? I'm hearing alot of stuff from guild mates and also looked a bit for myself . At around 48 with an MS warrior I do between 80 and 120. I'm seeing a rogue my lvl do maybe 150-200 already. At 60 the "rumor" is that rogue do possibly 400+. Where are mages in this? Hunter? I kinda hope that rogue dont do that much cause it would be another case of wtf were they thinking? Anyway, thoughs? Thorb |

| at 48, with pretty decent equipment for my level, I do 200-250 quite regularly. Rogues are highest single target dps, but to get that high, they have to focus on that single target for extended periods of time (building up to 5 combo points). Mages are probably second, or hunters with pet damage factored in. However, both of them have more mid-fight utility then a rogue. Mages can also AE, which rogues can't do at all, and poly. Hunters can offtank something with the pet, and take hits better then a rogue. After them, I'm not 100% sure. I'd say shadow spec priest and warlock, but I have no proof of that. |

| If we're going by that DPS monitor in cosmos (the one that you can click to expand and it breaks down DPS by each attack, even procs/poisons) I was doing 250 at 39 against lvl 38-40 syndicate people out in Alterac. It also showed me as having 19.xx% crit chance even though in the character sheet I have 14.2. This was using a Hand of Righteousness in main hand (which gives huge sinister strike damage, max crit was about 320) and Sword of Serenity in offhand so this is sans backstab and ambush. Also was sporting two Instant Poison 3 enchants (which, according to that handy DPS monitor, composed of 7.1% of my total DPS). |

| Just as an aside, Thorbadin, why did you stick with MS. Seriously curious, because I am a level 29 warrior currently, and I wasn't planning in getting it because the recent nerf, in my mind, made it suck.

| On sundered mobs our main rogue hits over 400 dps consistantly, unless its a very high armored mob. Paladins are next around 300-400 (all our paladins are offensively specced except one, and have good swords), one with a 57+ dps 2 hander rivals the rogue. Hunters are next, then mages that are doing about 200-250. MS warriors are doing about 150-200, sometimes a bit higher. Druids/warlocks do not exist in my guild it seems, so don't know about them. All those numbers are at 60 with most brs/schol/strat gear. Oddly on high armored mobs paladins far outdamage rogues it seems since seal of command ignores armor they have told me, but I don't know how true that is. Just like MS used to....til they nerfed that. |

| That single target figure you have for mages is low. At 40 I could consistently kill a lvl 40 with over 200dps. I recall specific times where it spiked over 250 and approached 300. Every other to every third mob would get an instant Pyroblast right after the initial fireball. All that being said, if I am going for mana efficient killing, it is definately lower. Channeling arcane missils and scorch will earn you more damage taken but your going to sit down to drink anyways so you might as well eat too. I don't play my mage anymore i remade on a pvp server and i am in the 30's and not getting pyroblast but, try this... Open with pyroblast at max range, then fireball you should be able to squeeze a scorch in there before the mob gets to you. Then Fire Blast, Arcane Missiles (uninterruptable) alternating untill dead. Every other mob you have to use fireball instead of pyro and every other other mob you can use it as an instant after the first fire blast.

| I'm a level 56 warrior with pretty okay equipment. When I solo I usually hover around the 100 Now I'm not totally sure about this, but I think instant attacks like Mortal Strike and Whirlwind are able to cause Windfury to proc. Either that or I'm lucky and proc a hell lot. I'm a wierd warrior that tanks in zerker stance, spamming cleave and whirlwind. |

| I think the notion of comparing DPS in a game like WoW is silly at best. Fights last 4-15 seconds and the RNG for crits is streaky as hell. A lucky round can easily double or triple your "DPS" and an unlucky string of misses can cut your "DPS" in half. In EQ where the majority (or all, in most cases) of your damage is turning on autoattack and fights last 2-3 minutes, then sure averaging out your data over hundreds of mobs would give you a pretty accurate number to work with, but the deviation for lucky rolls from 1 fight to the next was only 5-10% dps difference anyway. In WoW, no one gives a fuck about how my damage performance averages out over hundreds of mobs, nor should they. We need to come up with a better system for epeen measuring contests than DPS. |
