| WoW not very casual player friendly? Blizzard often said that WoW would cater to casual and hardcore players alike. Meaning that you could do something in only 1-2 hours playtime. Yet it seems as you get to the higher level instances, they take longer and longer. While deadmines took 1 horu 30 mins, blackrock depths takes about 7 hours. Was it their intention to leave out casual players for any of the lvl 50+ instances? |

| 7 hours? Good lord, did you kill every single mob in the entire zone? Once you complete all the quests, the time dramatically drops to maybe 1-1.5 hours depending on group makeup / levels. If you skip General/Golem Lord/Bar you could probably make it to Emp in 30. All depends on which areas of the zone you are doing and how good your group is. If you go to Vault/Highway area, expect to spend alot of time clearing trash =\ |

So you're right that it doesn't take long if you have a seasoned group that is only going for certain targets. But for new groups, which is going to be casual players in another couple months, it takes several hours before you get the "backdoor" item. Like for maruadon it can take up to 5 hours to go from start to finish, or just 1-2 hours if you have scepter. Still, I can see a lot of casual players getting screwed over unless they have a nice weekend to do the instance. | |

+10 Internets | It's pretty long if you both discover it and decide to do all the quests related to it in one sitting. If you discover it little by little, doing specific quests, you can certainly do that in a number of pretty short sessions. Obviously that makes a pretty poor group forming time / group action time ratio, but it is doable.

| Agreed Quin - my personal definition of casual play is those that play 10-15 hrs a week.... sometimes on their 2 days off, sometimes just a few hours a day - either of which is pretty friendly with WoW, nothing forces people to do instances front to back at any given time. Recommended, sure - required, nah... the requirement being what makes it casual friendly, it's impossible to make a MMO where having limited time won't slow you down some and WoW is set up to defray as much of that as possible. |

| Killed over 20 overlords, no staff yet. And yeah, I hate the spiders too. I like upper brs though, general and the beast are both fun fights. Brd won't take you 7 hours when you learn it better. Maybe 1.5 hours, sometimes more. And what is casual to you? A movie usally last 2 hours, sometimes longer. Are you saying you need "casual" movies in real life too, or what? Stop complain about the instances, their awesome. And if you don't have the time, don't do them. Also it's obvious that it'll take you longer if it's your first time. For example, Stratholme can be cleared really fast if you're done with the scarlet area, the painting quest etc. Although you probably may want the medalion so everyone can get the ring/necklace after you've killed the baron. It's still not too bad. Last edited by Awake : 01-02-2005 at 10:17 AM. |

+61 Internets | Night 1 Take a rogue, pick the lock on the door at the front. Pull the first group of 5, then the next group of 5 to the right on the Dark Iron Highway. Have your priest pacify your way to Pyron. Work your way back to the statue, dropping Fineous on the way. Night 2 Clear down the second-right path in the main guard chamber at the start of BRD. Get the key from the chick. Go rescue the commander Gor'Shak (Third right path, second door on the right). Go back to the entrance and kill Bael'Gar. Night 3 Go through the locked door to the East Garrison, travel through, dorp the general, argelmach, and do the Bar events. If you have time, go and kill the Salamander. Night 4 Skip the General, bar and Argelmach (unless you desperately want the "Second Chance" trinkets.) Clear Pyre, the 7, Lyceum and Emporer. This should take no more then 2 hours each and will allow you to complete pretty much every quest. |

+15 Internets | I don't think it matters how 'seasoned' you are. If you are taking 7 hours to clear that place you may want to wait a few weeks and try again when you are more comfortable or something. Even our first time there we didn't take that long and that was back in Beta when spirit was broke and we were getting used to having to fight without drinking during battle. Anyway, like I have said before and even about EQ....I don't care if a casual player pays as much per month as the next guy. If you don't have the time to play for the big toys, don't bitch about it or learn to make more time. I don't feel sorry for the pussy who wanted an alternate one-man quest made to get into Elementals and I surly don't feel sorry for people who constantly wipe out in BRD and blame it on being casual. It means you suck if you take that long. It has nothing to do with being casual. I have less playtime than your average casual gamer and I would quit playing if I took over two hours in that place. So in the end, you suck or your friends suck. Maybe, you all suck. Don't blame it on not being a 'seasoned' player. You make it or break it. I'm sure you've played games before. Stop being such a girl. |
