40 troll priest here.. im looking at racial abilities.. and undead priests get devouring plague and i guess night elves get some arcane rain thing? what do trolls get?

They get two racial specific spells, Shadowguard and Hex of Weakness.

Shadow Guard -
The caster is surrounded by shadows. When a melee or ranged attacker hits the caster, the attacker will be struck for 35 Shadow damage. Attackers can only be damaged once every few seconds. 3 charges. Lasts 10 min.

Hex of Weakness-
Weakens the target enemy, reducing damage caused by 4 for 2 min.

devouring plague is only good in pvp, but it costs a crap load of mana. It's a nice little spell when some idiot is chaseing me, i'll cast pain dot and the plauge, and by the time the two wear off the guy is over 1/2 dead. Now I'm the one chaseing.

I think they get touch of weakness and some damage shield.

The Night Elf starshards is not a rain spell it is a single target fast DoT. Decent for Holy Priests I guess, Shadow or Shadow/Disc use Mind Flay instead.

You're level 40 and you didn't even have your racial spells? :P

What have you been doing, grinding 24/7 and never going to the trainer, who tells you at levels 10 and 20 (when you get them) to go pick those up?

Anyway, yes - Trolls basically get a version of Curse of Weakness (damage reduction) and Lightning Shield, only a Shadow based one. I think they got the short end of the stick with this one.

Actually troll priests show up at their trainer, forget what levels, and it looks like there's a quest. You click to get the quest and it's like quest complete. Then you just buy the spell like you do all of your other spells.

To be honest, I think that might be the case for all priests not just trolls...In other words, the guy more than likely had the spells, he just didn't know they were troll only.

Troll priests kind of take it in the pants with 2 more or less garbage abilities. Humans get the best one imo, a self-only instant heal for 1500 hps or something. Dwarves have the best lineup with the human's same 1500 hp heal as well as a buff that nullifies fear one time.

i have hex and lightning shield, but i had no way of knowing that was my racial ability... and yea i do level pretty damn fast..

Yeah, troll ones sucks...hell, so do undead, at least for PvE. Devouring plague costs way too much mana for regular killing, and in "oh shit" cases, there are much better things than just standing there and hoping one more spell will keep you alive. I don't think I need to explain the other undead spell.

I will say that Starshards (NE Priest) is the worst piece of shit that could ever exist. A while ago I posted a few "parody" posts about how it was super overpowered because it stuns the mobs (which of course it doesn't), but a fucking arcane spell (huh, wha?) that is channeled? Sorry, the only time this spell is useful is when you've won the fight anyway, but I'd much rather get into range and mind flay to snare and keep em closer to me in the process, than stand back and do trivial amounts of damage.

Our SWPain dot, being instant, is our "chasedown" spell to any class that can't remove it.

The other NE spell is useful um, sorta. It reduces ranged damage by some negligable amount. Zzz.
