Is the recipe to transmute or drops in game for this item?

Welcome to the World of NYI. Silithus wind mobs are the ones who will probably drop it, but they have no loot tables.

Those drop off those air elementals in Tanaris. They are random spawns all over the zone. I suggest getting a hunter with elemental tracking to help you.

I thought the Tanaris elementals were too low to drop them. They've also never been recorded as dropping ever in beta.

I don't know of anyone actually getting one as a drop.

However, if you do one of the Scholomance lines the town of Caer Darrow becomes available to you. One of the vendors there as the recipe Transmute: Fire to Air (or maybe it's earth to air, can't remember). So like every 2 days you can get an Essence of Air, so fun!

Tanaris air elementals (Gusting Vortex) drop Breath of Wind, as far as I know.

I believe you're thinking of Elemental Air. These loot tables should be way up there in the low to mid 50's for these item. I don't mind transmuting, because I know Essence of Water drops, I just need to locate that recipe.

There's air to fire transmute, but not fire to air.

EoA is just currently unavailable.

No, he's right. Once Silithus is finally itemized with trash drops at the very least, you'll be able to get Essence of Air from the air elementals there.

Currently though, you can't even skin the things you kill, let alone get any drops.

What about transmuting water to air? Is that transmute not yet available? My apologies for the redundant questions.

And are you IN Silithus? I suppose I just assumed the GoBs were still on the path up from Un'Goro. [double edit] Or are you guys testing the content?

They put a few new NPCs in Silithus with the last patch. Hopefully, lewt will follow.

GoBs were removed from there a while before beta ended. I think the southern half of the zone is still closed though. I haven't cared enough to check, I just wanted to use the vendor when I went there.

Ahhh thats my fault. Youre right Sean. I recall a friend camping those elementals for the Breath, not the essence. Some blacksmithed sword apparently requires it.

Transmute: Water to Air is sold in Caer Darrow. The recipe is binds when picked up, however, so don't expect to make any money off of it. Unless you're an alchemist that is.

All right so Essence of Air IS in game, if only through transmutation. As for access to Caer Darrow, I recall running right in during beta and hearing the ghost voices. I suppose there's a quest for town access now?
