| Pick Up Raid against Ragnaros A friend got sucked into a pickup raid to go into the Molten Core....he's not a hardcore raider, don't know if he ever played Everquest, so take his words with that in mind. "So I log on to check things out with the new talents and I immediately get invited in the first full raid group I've been in. The mission: Kill Ragnaros, the tier 2 raid boss. Summary of what happened: He's in the "molten core" just past the 7 dwarves in BRD. We had a safe spot to zone in but the next area had 7 mobs that we could see. 3 Level 62 fire giants, and 4 level 61 fire elems. The raid party consisted of FORTY level 60's. We pulled 2 fire giants (linked). Whole party wiped. No exaggeration. From 2 mobs. We rez/ pull again, and kill 1 of the 2. Whole party wiped. The last person to die got the killing blow. Rez again, and pull a fire elem. A single fire elem. It split into 13 level 60 fire elems. Whole party wiped. Thats all we did. Having said that, people in the raid mentioned the Onyxia was supposed to be farmed repeatedly in order to do this one." |

| that actually sounds fun. wow needs a good challenge. I haven't tried rag yet, but anything difficult at this point sounds promising to me. however, while I can understand onyxia needing to be farmed to put people on the appropriate level gear-wise to do the encounter, that's a problem because the npc vendor isn't there for onyxia and the quest is so long (so i've been told) and it's nyi yet. oh and something is bugged with the ghost room last I heard this morning, so meh. |

Also, what's the gripe here? Or is there one? I am inclined to think there's some element of complaining since there are no praises for the encounter, no spoilers, no tips, no screenshots, so the only thing remaining is a gripe. Or a useless post. Anwyay, if it is a gripe, so what? So they took a raid to kill a mob they weren't ready for, by their own admission. If they want to win, go farm Onyxia. I don't mean to be vitriolic, just offering my 2 bits on your friend's statements. | |

| I sense shitty pickup raid that had no idea what they were doign in the first place. Like, how was the healing set up? Who kept the MT up and who healed the dps dealers? How did you plan to controll the adds? Who was on assist? Did your group setup make any sense? Now that the game got lil bit tough, let the whining beging.

| I have no doubt it was a shitty pickup raid that had no idea what they were doing .I thought it was a good thing they got r0x0red instead of being able to zerg through. And I have no gripe, just posting a tale in the hope to incite discussion. I have no secret l33t agenda. |

| That reminds me of something I've been meaning to make a post about: Hypothetical situation: WoW raid cotent is Hard(tm) - and I agree, a random pickup raid on untested raid content is hardly a barometer of the raid content in general . Given the relative ease with which the casual player base will reach level 60 in WoW, do you think it likely WoW's raid content will stay difficult and, presumably, out of reach of the more casual gamers (until perhaps an expansion or two down the road), or do you think Blizzard might have to give into "pressure" from their casual player base (which, I think it's fair to say, will be massive) and tone down the raid content for the masses?Cheers, Sorran. |

| That's just an un-biased report on the first pick-up raid in WoW. That I know of. And it's quite interesting. They got humiliated, but I would have been worried if the first *pick-up* raid ever had succeeded easily. |

| ive thrown 60+ at vox and still got clobbered due to bad strats ive thrown 140+ at gorenaire and got wasted. trust me, pickup raids are stupid. and sorran, id imagine later on they will add quests that can get the earlier tier raid loot. key word later. edit: fuck bnet can be funny Quote:
edit2: god damn you can gleam a lot about their failures from the screenshots. notice in the last whipe how a lot of em had 1/3 less hp... either they ghetto tried to AE or no one was calling targets(a well organized raid can have split tank/healers... but im seeing this as a needing 8-10 tanks kinda thing) edit3: haha shit, all the lava spawns cast fireball. ![]()
