| The original EQ intro movie (from the pre-Kunark CDROM) looked pretty good. It got me interested enough that when I saw it playing in a computer store next to a bunch of boxes for a new game called EverQuest I picked one up and brought it home. |

I think the true test of a good intro is how well it introduces the player/customer to the game's world, story, and characters. EQ's original intro passed with flying colors. It really made you eager to play the game. | |

+16 Internets | The intro to Broodwar was always one of my favorite CG intros. Especially that last shot of the lone marine looking up at the Battlecruiser as hundreds of zerg swarm on his position. The intro to FFXI was kinda cool too. I liked the part where the midget blackmages all summon meteo to smite the evil army, then they all get owned by behemoths. Wing Commander 3 + 4 used to have badass intros back in the day. FMV still had some novelty ;P But hey, at least they were higher production quality then most of the shit out there. The original Ninja Gaiden also needs a shout out. It was basically the first game with "cinematic" cutscenes.

| I was gonna come post that my favorite intro was the Brood War opening, but then I heard someone mention the original EQ video, and I got chills remembering it. The original EQ video (not on any of the trilogy or higher discs), is by far the best intro or video period. It is the most exciting well done, video with perfect well placed music. I think I might have to bust out my original cd and install it.. |

| Planescape: Torment had my favorite intro ever. FF7 and 8 both had good intros as well. Starcraft had one of the best ending cutscenes I've seen, when Tassador blew up that carrier. |

| I was very impressed with the visual detail and quality with the WoW intro movie but other than that I found it a meh. The intro movie for Warhammer 40K is 100% pure fucking own.

That said, to answer the topic... for 3D technology Square and Namco certainly showed very impressive stuff in the PS era, but the technological ground kinda evened out since then. But we still see to this day stuff that clearly stick out of the mass, like the insanly long and complex intro for Onimusha 3 by Robot that includes solid direction and brilliant fight choreography. On an emotional standpoint though, I prolly will have to go with stuff like the Ys I&II on Nec CD, Snatcher on Super CD, Final Fantasy VI (3 in the US) or Axellay on Super Famicom.

+8 Internets | One thing is for sure, you really remember all the Blizzard game cut-scenes. They have such style and atmosphere that they are like real movies. Broodwar ones were the best IMHO. No other game cutscenes really come close. Anyway, Ill have to agree the Fallout movies were pretty cool too. Just dl-ed the WOW intro...uhh holy shit. Officially the best game intro movie heh. It looks better than the Final Fantasy movie. |
