... sigh Becouse large markets and chains are not willing to discuss with small developer for their games. You think wallmart cares jack-o-fuck about a blizzard game? If they can get game X from unkown-corporate-called-ea-sports that will sell shitloads of units regardless if its a good game or not, why would they bother?

Game retails are not making good cash, the retailer only gets few lousy dollars for each sold game. Big markets that sell most of the games just keep them becouse its another article that drives people to their shop to maybe buy other goods that have better profit margin.

So why would they bother buying directly from the developer, when they can buy junkloads of titles from one source and bargain lower prices from them? (these would be, big publishers)

That is why its so freaking hard to get publisher and your game to the shops. Lot's of new game companies just fall down becouse none of the big pubs are not willing get their title, hence no big market will ever bother getting your game for sale. Big markets, aka, retailers do not give a fuck about your game, just for the profits.

Friend of mine used to be a inbuyer for large market chain. He basicly told that "well, we don't really give a crap about gamesales really, most important is to have good brad stand, like EA Games in your games section, that will please 90% of our customers and thats what we want".

Developer = no brand, no marketing, no sales, no wal-mart shell slot. These market chains are so strong, they basicly Ignore even Sony. Sony demanded that every retailer would sell their new ps2 1.11 and not a day before. Wallmart told Sony that they will start selling immidiedly when consoles arrive, and if that would not please Sony, they would not care less. Walmart didnt even consider the new console to be a "throw-in" stuff for their customers so they called sony's bluff. Well quess what.. most of wallmarts started selling em week before the release date, no complaints from Sony. :-/

Most game retailers have been selling the mini PS2s since the 15th of Oct ;p

The Bible-Marts were never promised stock until around Nov I believe.

Yeah, it was just an example. Same way the game retailers just ignore the suppliers demands. I wanted to express how shitty the situation is even for larger suppliers, trying to make my point stronger how bad it would be for small company, or for a plain developer team.

And to that other cockfaggot. I'm not native english speaker / writer. I have learned english for few years only. I'm sure you understood what I was trying to say, these are quite international forum's youknow, there are folks in foh mmorpg forums that write much shitter english than I do, so your flame was quite lame indeed.

Heh Wal-Mart is big enough to give the finger to even the RIAA and get away with it.

Not completely relevant to this topic, but I thought it was interesting.

Also don't forget that the 75 million dollars or whatever WoW cost has to come from somewhere....so they don't just need VU to deal with retailers

Walmart is the fucking BORG. They're rich as fucking hell (Numbers 4 - 7 on the richest people in America, independently, are the equal shareholders / family of Sam Walton. Put together they are by far the richest people in the world.

That one corporation is one of the largest factors in the death of small town America.
