+2 Internets | I am going to keep an open mind. If it gets many 10 out of 10 ratings from non-biased reviewers and they fix the core game so it has content, then I am willing to give it a try. Really though, what are the chances of this happening? |

+14 Internets | Basicaly it's a brand new game inside the game. I am curious to see how it will work. The task at hand is tough for SOE though since there are a number of solid references in the space flight sim departement... even some in the Star Wars universe.

Fuck. I guess: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Is just moronic advice these days. Especially considering were now far past the proverbial "Twice fooled". Besides which, this is not entirely a "game" within a "game", it's a Module within a game. The game is still the aforementioned, and still unfinished SWG. This is only a dfiversion.....or rather a Jedi Mind trick to make you think SWG has gotten better. Last edited by Jait : 09-06-2004 at 12:43 PM. | |

| Shouldn't SOE's brainless banning of all those SW:G accounts have shut down that game? I can't imagine it boasted over EQ's playerbase, and EQ itself only has like...400k? Taking into account all the multiple accounts i'd say significantly less actual players. SOE proved itself to be a buncha goombahs in two seperate games. Don't trust 'em no mo! |

| Romo is a manwhore | It'll be worth it for those already playing that game, but that goes without saying. It's being designed by Cinco Barnes, who, if I'm not mistaken, was lead design on Wing Commander Online, so there's hope in that regards. He apparantly knows what's he doing when it comes to Space Sims, and seeing how he'll work that type of environment into an already established ground game will be interesting. SWG gets a lot of flak, but you can't deny the drawing power of the brand name attached to it. That's probably the only reason it's still around and apparantly gaining subscribers. They also have a 'new boss' in Gordon Walton (runs the SOE offices in Austin) and having met the man recently, I can honestly say that interesting times are ahead for this much loved yet much maligned game. |

In my mind the biggest mistake they made was setting the game during the GCW. You constrain yourself WAY too much when you do that. They could have set it after ROTJ, had far more freedom, and still had a rebel vs. imperial theme.

+2 Internets | To be fair to Duhulk's opinion, Planetside was the third strike. Really though, PlanetSide is the best of the SOE games to me, just that it is way to expensive for a larger scale of Unreal Tournament's Onslaught mode. They really screwed the pooch with that Core expansion though... |
