You do know that Blizzard was the first major MMORPG to have no NDA...right? So what about all the other MMORPGs before them? You know? the ones that had NDAs and shit like that? Were we all stupid back then to pre-order the game? Maybe like your dumbass? Half the fuckers here pre-ordered CoH just to get a gay ass sprint ability and then quit inside 2 months and I bet you were one of them.

people pre-ordered CoH to get in the beta 3 weeks before retail and to get a 3 day head start for retail launch. There was no special ability for pre-orders, only unique graphics (per retailer) for the sprint ability that all characters have. It was called prestige Sprint instead of sprint, but there was no advantage to having it over normal sprint.

Both WoW and EQ2 are giving in-game flair items for the CE; SOE gives you player housing decorations (and a pet dragon for dvd folks, i believe) and Blizzard hasn't yet decided on the item, but it will not be an item that gives an advantage to players.

SOE is giving players a small in-game advantage for pre-ordering, and Blizzard has not yet announced if they are going to give anything for pre-orders or not. I think that the beta slot (which is in lieu of doing a public beta, ala CoH) and a head start period is much better way of getting pre-orders up than a gimmicky 5% run boost.

Let's talk economics.
What if they played a lot in those two months? Even if they enjoyed, say, 15 or so hours out of the time they played, they spent the average time that a single player game takes...albeit slightly more expensive, if they spent anymore time than 20 hours, I'd say the money they spent is well worth it.

And hell, if $24 is a lot of money to you, then you need a fuckin' job.

Id doesnt matter what WoW offers in their box EQ2 fans will still bitch and moan about it... And like wise it doesnt matter what EQ2 puts in their box cause WoW fans will just go off on that as well.

Seriously? Cant some of you give it a rest already? Why some of you feel you must try and degrade EQ2 any chance you get is beyond me... It ALMOST looks like you feel threatened by it... Id say the same for EQ2 fans who try and degrade WoW stuff every chance they get.

I wont pretend that I know what people are thinking.. BUT IMO I think at least on some subconcious level.. or even conciously some of you are aware that the other game has the potential to keep your game from greatness... Thus this unfounded hatred for the other game seems to show up. As it stands now... The only game who can keep EQ2 from being #1 is WoW... And vice versa.

Its the only thing that makes any sense. EVERY MMO has its fans.. but in my years of online gaming I havnt ever seen two fan bases verbally attack the other game so much. It really does look like a form of jealousy.

ATM EQ2 fans have alot of ammunition to fire at WoW... considering alot of them play beta... or have read enough reports to see its problems. At LEAST EQ2 fans have some facts to base their arguments and degrading on... The sad ass part is that WoW fans DONT have the same information on EQ2 and wont till either Beta.. or after cause of NDA... So they reach for the most lame ass things they can find... (OMFG!!! JBOOTS?!?!?!?!)

EQ2 collectors edition offers things like a pet, and paintings for your house and crap like that... similar to junk Blizzard will offer... Yet it never fails that someone will claim that SoE is being asshats, and Blizzard is just being smart. Seriously, just give it a god damn break already would you? IT has been MONTHS now of the same stupid ass people trying to champion their game with the same stupid ass arguments. WE GET IT... YOU LIKE YOUR GAME.. NOT THE OTHER... WE GET IT, WE GET IT, WE GET IT!

I swear to god sometimes the only reason to come here anymore is for movie reviews. Logical MMO discussion/debate went out the window the day WoW/EQ2 SOME HOW became enemies. I personally dont ahve a favorite of the two.. I plan to play them both... However as someone said earlier... Im starting to hope EQ2 beats WoWs ass... simply to put some of these pricks in their place... so maybe... JUST MAYBE after months and months of the them saying the same damn thing.. over and over and over again they will finnaly just shut the hell up.

Its really sad when I think EQ2 > WoW ONLY because WoW fans act like immature retards. Keep it up guys!! Your the best player on the EQ2 team!! I can just see it now.. EQ2 makes a server just for WoW refugees who are trying to get away from the fanatical WoW fans

Anyway... Back to see what people thought of AVP (forgive spelling)

Talk about a stretch.
Yea Foghorn, usually what is referred to as "pets" in most online titles to date haven't been offensive creatures that defend their masters, right?

And Zerglings in Starcraft certainly weren't aggressive either, right?

Both words of their two word description ellicit the concept I stated could happen, assuming they don't read in depth to it or think about it for a moment... (*gasp* just like the JBoots that SoE is offering - they suck if you look into it, but the name might confuse some stupid people)

Both give the wrong idea due to previous content that they emulate. Period.

There is no contract tied to pre-orders from any retail spot I've worked or dealt with - been a few years since I managed a retail spot, but for our preorders it was usually somewhere around 40-60% were usually picked up, rest were refunded. (this is day of release, not counting ones that cancelled early)

A preorder is as influential as answering a phone poll on which candidate you plan to vote for in November - it's meant to give the retailers an idea of how many copies they'll need to purchase at launch - and years ago it was mostly done via call lists, but the reservation part involved with putting money down ended up being far more popular for the long haul.

No. You're stretching, you know you're stretching, if you use the word 'ambient' you know it's not an aggressive pet. Shit, if you use the word 'Zerg' you know it has no place in the World of Warcraft, so what kind of whacko company is going to actually put something like that in their MMO? Anyone with half a brain would be able to figure out that an ambient Zergling is not an offensive pet. Not everyone is going to know that EQ2 JBoots are not as effective as the old ones. Shit, how many people on these boards had to be told that? Do you think your average ex-EQ player walking into Software Etc. is going to know that? Maybe they should call them 'Ambient JBoots' so that people can actually use their English skills to unravel the mystery of the 'give us five dollars NOW' plot.
