These much vaunted EQ2 Jboots increase your movement speed just a hair over 5%, and anytime you enter combat mode *ANY* movement bonuses you currently have are cancelled untill you leave combat.

No kiting, no gay jousting, none of this. EQ2 jboots are for nothing other then barely faster travel.

sure hope its not like that.. nothing like a 6th lvl orc knocking sow off a 50th lvl warrior untill he kills it.

Blizzard's collector's edition deals are actually the best I've ever come across. The art book in the WC3 collector's edition was orgasmic, and the DVD of the cinematics was amazingly awesomely good to have too, as it sucks to waste art that good if you can't watch it anywhere you want at will! And yea, I'm probably too much of a fan of their art for this to matter to most of you, but if you dig their stuff, they throw way more than the extra $30 worth at you in their collector's editions.

From what I've read, it seems that ALL mobs will cringe away from much higher level players even if they are normally agro to players in their level range. So that might not be an issue.

As for the jboots and collector's editions in general, I don't really care. As long as they don't give people who shell out an extra $30 a real advantage, it doesn't bother me. I would prefer they were just "cool" items, like some of the things that other games have done (like the AO pets, sunglasses, whatever). From what I've heard, it looks like SoE is just offering something that might *sound* like something great, thus convincing some people to order the CE (even if its effects are minor).

Edit: IF EQ2 had pet leets for pre-orders, I'd prolly buy it

run buffs break in combat in eq2.
Yeah the whole locked combat thing is retardation IMHO. SOW and other speed buffs probably saved more peoples asses in EQ than any other effect. In EQ2 SOW will be for travel only, since as soon as a mob looks at you SOW breaks.

I guess we will have to see how it works, but on paper it sounds really dumb. Basically you can be running at bard speed, but as soon as you get aggro it goes away.

With the CD version of the game, you get some scenery screenshots to decorate your house with.

The DVD version (same price) gets you a talking statue of either Lucan or Antonia. (no screenshots)

The CE version (+$30) gets you both the statue and the screenshots as well as a small dragon pet for your house. (it can't leave the house and assist you in combat)

Other people can enter your instanced house when they want to buy one of the items you're selling, so at least you can show off the stuff you got.

You get the 'jboots' for preordering the game, but the effect is no where close to what it was in EQ Live. I remember reading it's 5%, that'd be half the difference between normal run speed and run 1.

From what I understand you don't lose the speed enhancement until you start attacking, so you could still run away with the speed buff.

You might even regain your faster speed once you 'release' the mob, since the purpose of the system is to prevent kiting and you lose the exp when you open it up for help.

That is officially the best pre-order offer EVER.

There is nothing wrong with that offer, every company needs to make money. It would be bad if the item was a stat type of item in any way shape or form, but the ideas that I read are all good and won't effect anything. And no offence, but if you think something like Jboots doesn't make a character more powerful, you are pretty dumb.

And God, please do not remind me of how stupid the combat lock thing they are going to do in EQ2. It is the most ridiculous thing ever. There is no reason why I shouldn't be able to manuever around during a fight, whether it help me or not. I don't want to be snared or slowed down in any way shape or form when I'm attacking something. It will be so annoying and give the biggest headache, God I am getting a headache thinking about it.

My mistake, I meant for pre-ordering and got the two confused. I was talking about the jboots not being much of a difference. If you wrongly think of them in terms of EQ1 jboots, you might be convinced to pre-order for them.

"Well, if SoE says they're going to make you pay for an expansion they are the devil incarnate, but if Blizzard says that the price of gas is going up you will blow them all -- IN YOUR MOUTH!"

You people are so fucking queer it is mind boggling.

Go read some actual news about the actual game that will actually affect it. Some pretty neat shit going on.

Drinking is out. Quest sharing is in. New microdungeons. Mippo's breath now smells like flowers instead of cock.

Wait.
