<3 the logic on these forums. Somehow, when Sony offers an incentive to just PRE ORDER (note: not trying to get people to spend extra money), and people cry about how gay this is.

Now Blizard does the same thing, but for people to spend 30 extra dollars, mind you, and it's A-OK. Hmmmmm...

I figured all games did this now.

EQ1 did go a bit overboard with their "Gathering" weapons originally. But now it's all crap and gimmicks.

By far the best rewards have been AOs which have given out unique sunglasses, apartments, even special character "familiars" from ninjas, to computer nerds who can battle each other privately while taking a break from bitching at you about your skills.

I think this is more the direction games should go in. Allow these gifts/rewards to be something without impact on others gameplay while being something that shows a person "was there" at that point.

That's because 95% of the people on this board are rabid WoW fans and wont take the cock out of their mouth to see EQ2 has a chance to be an excellent game.

I dont understand why you'd say "dat game gunna b gay f00lz" when you havent seen shit. The only real complaint they have is the animations and even that doesnt look as horrible as the retards make you think. I hope eq2 is better than WoW simply so these people shut the fuck up and look stupid when it comes out.

Because with such a stellar history of top notch, well tested, games and expansions, and a strong sense of customer support and care, who could POSSIBLY dislike anything having to do with Everquest?

Obviously you kept paying monthly payments for it, so you either liked it or were retarded and couldnt figure out how to cancel your account.

Why do people always assume that the next generation of MMO's will even be effected to any meaningful degree by things that are powerful in the current environment?

Obviously you're talking out of your ass, since I canceled the game when it started to go downhill.

Like someone said before, there is a difference between a useful item and a "just for show" item.
SWG had a pair of sunglasses with the collector edition for example. Compare that to the JBoots and you will notice the difference (though I haven't played EQ for quite a while so wouldn't really know how much difference they bring to the game).

This is EQ2 we're refering to though, not EQ. Other than "they probably make you move a bit faster in certain situations" nobody knows whether these will be something that will reduce your running time across the west karanas by 15 seconds or whether they will be the key to killing the baby of Kerafrym and Quarm by merging them with a splitpaw tunic and netted pants.

You say "JBoots" and everyone with any EQ experience in their past will instantly think the same thing. Regardless of what advantages the item gives in EQ2, if any, SOE is using this well established understanding as a promotional tool. They could use Manastone or Fungi Tunic and have them end up being nothing more than novelty items in the game, and it would have the same result. Current and former EQ players would use their established understanding of what those items do in weighing their decision to buy the game.

Totally missunderstood you then.
I was under the impression you would get JBoots in EQ if you preordered EQ2 (dunno why I was under that impression though, perhaps thought it was a EQ subscriber offer), but this is even worse.
Unless one will get JBoots from a fairly easy newbie quest, a lot of people will be disgusted by this kind of marketing..
At least I will...

The funny part is that they don't even know what the 'item' will be yet. They just know that they need to do it to be competetive. This, ladies and gents is capatalism at it's best.

YOU pay us to give suggestions on what we MIGHT give you. Lol

I could not find the place on that thread to input my credit card info along with my suggestion. Do you think they accept paypal instead?
