| *Flush* - Hero Classes That flush noise you hear is the ill timed news that the hero classes won't be available until sometime after launch, according to Blizzard Employee "Block." Quoting for reference... Quote:
Pretty disappointing to hear and not sure what the reasoning is behind this. I think most players were under the assumption that Hero classes would be available before release so we would have something to do when we hit the cap a week after launch. Of course the Beta boards are crying "ARGH Vivendi is forcing them to push it out early!!!," but alas, no official statements other than this one have emerged. Thoughts? | |

+24 Internets | I ninja posted this in another thread already, but it's okay, I'm glad you made a new one, for reference here is what was said in the few replies: Tuco: Looks like SoE isn't the only company that releases end-game content after launch. This raises the question of how much longer they plan to wait to implement things like this, as well as if there are simple things(dialogue, delivery quests etc...) that you can do about the Hero class. I just hope hero's don't go the way of the guild houses in diablo2. The Bog: In a perfect world, I could get Mograine's Might. THIS IS NOT A PERFECT WORLD. Vinen: Meh, I at least Blizzard announces that it will be coming out, unlike SoE who says its there and working but its not. Tuco: I'm neither saying that it's good business practice or bad business practice. I'm just saying that it's there on Blizzard's part, and I wonder how much other end-game content won't be out at release. This fear is heightened by the rate of which people are leveling, and Blizzards lack of concern of this issue. I don't know anything, I'm just speculating on the facts that right now we hit the cap fast, and they've anounced that this facet of high end content won't be out at release. masteen: Another thing involved with MMOGs that a lot of you seem to neglect in the skill debates are what we call "de social skills." A lot of the retards on b.net (and in the WoW beta) are misanthropes. While it would be bad for business to deny them access to all loot, it would certainly be unfair to reward those of us who are capable of working as part of a larger whole the same as solos. |

| Well, I might be a smidge wow fanboy, although I try and rein it in, but to be honest, personally I'm glad it won't be out right away because it means they are still considering the whole thing. As was pointed out, some of the casual people want everything handed to them on a silver plate, and while there should be a portion that is soloable, the whole point to a warcraft hero is that they "arise from the ranks to lead armies of their fellows". In other words, you don't have an army of heros, especially not a week after release. Now, the delay does no good if when they do put it in everyone is a hero in a week, but if becoming a hero means a few people in a guild get some effort spent on them, it is worth giving the community time to figure out for itself who those leaders will be. Then again, if it's just like the epics and everyone has it, then there is no point waiting. |

+24 Internets | I've thought (or hoped) that the Hero facet of WoW will be a suped up 'Epic'. It will have a quest like an epic, that involves killing mobs that are at the top 10% of the mob difficulty(Not VP, for example, but Trakanon in Kunark terms), as well as soloing things, grouping things, 'questing' things, etc. I think hero quests should require seeing a large portion of the world, seeing most of the high-end levels(but not require seeing the most end-game ones) and visiting all the cities. I don't think that Hero classes should be like AAXP or levels 60->70, but they should be the epic quest of a clas.(Life quests?) Anyway, a lot of this might be better balanced if it was completed after the WoW folk got a while to run around and do what they do, but that's what beta is for. I'll whine if it's not in before the top 4 or 5 guilds put most of the high end on 'farm' status. |

| Well now that hero classes won't be in until after launch all the other content they already have for 1-50, which I thoroughly enjoyed playing will be for naught, much less the other 10 levels to be tested. I mean if I can't be a hero the day the game comes out because face it, I am going to be level 60 two days after release, it just won't be worth it. I hate WoW now and all things associated with it, and will probably not even enjoy doing all the quests and other stuff that they are saving for release. I would have to agree though, if they aren't implemented in a timely manner that would be disappointing. |

| Yeah sony is screwed once WoW comes out...can anyone say chapter 11? Anyway, I'm not too suprised that Blizzard is saving some stuff for the live team, the reason for this could be many things. They could simply want to explore a more tangable way to implement them by waiting until there's a solid player base, or they may just be slacking.. either way it's nothing to worry about until there's people level 60 and Blizzard is still cockblocking (heroblocking?) said people. If you look back at vanilla EQ, that was a great game even before PoH and PoF opened up...and it wasn't really that important since the majority of the server couldn't even access it by the time it was up. |
